Custom Ship Paint on the eveonline website - Coming this winter??

On the winter expansion webpage there are standard gallente ships with different colour palettes.
Is this feature coming with the upcoming patch or are they just coloured for fun??

I also noticed some screenshots popped up on eve-files that look like different coloured thorax's on sisi's market http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1110/SINGULARITY_231020110202.jpg but I couldnt find them when i logged into sisi.

More to the point, unless I'm blind the page you linked contains no differently colored ships.

I don't know what to make of your sisi screenshot, but such screenshots have been faked before.

OP, that pic is the source of at least 4 threads the past day. We'll have a video devblog on it next week, or the one after that.

That Sisi screenshot you linked is a fake. The author of it created a whole lot more, too. Don't get mad at him, however, because he never claimed it was real.

All the ship skins in the game need redone. They aren't going to redo all the models, but they have to do the skins to bring the art technology up to date. There was an old dev blog about it like a year ago or more. The first to be redone was the scorpion, and they showed all 10 different versions of the scorpion in a dev blog, even NPC ones, and ones that to my knowledge have never been seen in the game. That thorax will be what? The 3rd ship skin redone? That leaves something like 80 more. You won't see custom paint jobs/logos until all of them are done, so, at this rate, not in our lifetimes.

Actually they can change the base and secondary colours without having to upgrade to the new texturing method, and have been able to do so for years.

I have come to the following conclusion, im sure others will agree with this.


CCP have stated they are re-focusing to FiS

NEX store is not focused on FiS items - but moreso WiS items.

Because all the content we're gunna get with WiS soon is just the other 3 faction's station "looks" - And that CCP isnt stupid to hte fact that they still need extra income - they still need to use the NeX store.

How can they do this?

Oh! wait a minute! :P

Introduce ship skin colors to the NEX store!


But how will they do it?

Many small transactions that will make player's pretty much just by 1 of their new paintjob and keep it in their hangar and never fly it again for fear of loosing the paint? (hint ccp - dont do this :P)

or - actualy be able to justify the monocle's overpriced-ness?

Make the price for a speficic skin "expensive - ish" - depending on the ship type - but wiht the option of once purchased - you can re-color you're ship at you're whim?

or an even better idea - purely sell the paint job COLORS - in the NEX store - once bought hte colorscheme can be applied to any ship - any time - unlimited re-use - but hefty price tag.

Expensive-ness of the skins should factor in how many skin's there are in total, how good they look, ie yellow Helios and Yellow Megathron both better look sexy as, and not one awesome but the other an eyesore.... and how much you want to **** the playerbase off by being going back to you're "Greed is good" approach.... you need to find the sweet spot in between CCP!

But lest to say - the winter expansion picture, having the ships colored how they are - is a blatant show that this will be a feature of the winter expansion, one that is long, long, LONG overdue.


Next move is you'rs CCP. Please dont **** it up, you've been doing good as of late.

not to mention it was about a year between the scorpion model and the maller model. so at this rate, we shouldn't expect a new model until june, and it will only be one ship. and also, it should be about another 80 or so years till all the models in the current game are redone...

I'll be pretty pissed off if I live another 80 years. I'm aiming for another 30 or 40 years. I wonder which ships I'll never see redone.
