I'm currently researching an article to go out around Valentine's day-so I'm looking for stories! Your stories! I myself was introduced to Eve by my ex-boyfriend(yes girls play Eve-so what!)-the only thing I can wholeheartedly thank him for lol. There are in fact several couples in my corporation, but what I'm really interested in tho, is stories about people who have met in game. Online dating is a very common thing these days-but this being the unique environment that is this game we love, I want to know how it has applied to you! Whether it is all hearts & flowers? Did it go horribly wrong? Was it someone in an enemy corps or alliance? How has your corpies/alliance etc dealt with it? Or have you had to keep it secret? Or indeed your own opinions if one of your corpmates struck up a romance with a fellow capsuleer. Anyway-please post here or inbox me. Everything will be dealt with in confidence unless you give me permission to name names. I look forward to hearing from you ;)

Well, it wasn't a 'relationship' certainly, but when things got bad for me in RL my former Alliance Leader whom I had voice comms with for around 2 years, flew me across the country to stay for 6 months while things were gotten back in order for me.

That can happen.

A good friend of mine played EVE for several years, and met a Girl in a corp we were hired to protect, they got taking and eventually met up, Had a long term realationship for a good 2 years, They eventually broke up, she logged into all 3 of his eve accounts trashed all his ships/items and gave away his ISK then deleted his characters while he didint have access to a computer.

After a long hard battle with the devs She got all her characters banned and his characters brought back from the dead, but the devs refused to give him any isk, items or ships back. He was playing since 05 till 10 thats alot of isk and gear to lose, Surprisingly he doesnt play anymore.

Another reason to never ever give anyone your account info. Not even your partner. Ever.

Greetings

I realize that the cold heartless nature of EVE players might compel people to turn this into a male vs female topic. So unless you want your posts edited for being off topic, please help (a possible girl) the OP by staying on topic. This is a great time to exerciser the old saying, if you do not have anything constructive to add....don't say anything."

Well how about that, you learn something new everyday - online dating in the gaming community.

I highly doubt I'm going to meet someone on EVE. In fact, I highly doubt I'll meet someone I can find interesting for longer than two minutes in the real world before I'm back to work, studying, or... well... playing EVE. Women don't like me. Actually, people don't like me. I'm strange.

But that's okay, because I don't like people Smile

Well, since there really has not been any descent follow-up or opinion given by OP, I have the feeling we've been rick-rolled yet again.

Typical.

Hardly-I'm reading thro to try to get hold of real stories-I'm trying to stay away from old hat stuff everyone already knows about, & to get real stories from real Eve players. No one seems to have covered this up to know-I did look.! Found practically nothing! Its all human interest stuff from an Eve Online angle.

Finding a love story in Eve is rarer than finding officer spawns. Also, the sane people who are able to get into relationships with each other probably don't frequent the forums as much.

Just sayin'.

I haven't found anybody in this game.

I believe people keep their relationships secret, because bad things can happen if you link any bit of personal information to the internets. Different game, a dev posted just their real name, and within a few hours his home address, email accounts, and phone numbers were found and spammed.

You also have a 5% female-to-male ratio in this game, as opposed to 30-40% in other MMO games. As a result of extreme spam and unwanted attention, the women tend to value their privacy immensely.

So, bottom line, I doubt anyone will post anything you can actually use.

But, good luck!

About the only thing I've ever heard about is the marriage at FanFest with the couple who got the unique Luxury Yacht ship.

I agree ,people may well not openly post in the forums-that's ok-I'm happy for people to inbox me, but if no one does-that's ok-I'll write a commentry piece on the subject. People's lack of communication on a topic can mean as much as a massive threadnought lol
