Is there anything that can prevent scanning?

I'm in a nullsec system and when I scan either with scanning probes or with the on board scanner, it stops at 0.0 seconds remaining and all the buttons on the top of the scanner window go dark. After a bit, the reconnect to active probes button lights up and I am able to recall my probes (if deployed) although it lights up even if I scanned using the on board scanner.

If I go 1 jump over to the next system, I can scan normally, so I don't think it's a problem with my computer or anything...but I'm not sure what's going on here.

edit: after 3 relogs and an additional couple of attempts after the last relog, it suddenly started working again. No idea what the cause or the solution was, this thread can be closed

Not that I know about.

Could be a bug, file a bug report to CCP so they will look into it.
