Overview Settings Keep Changing

If I have two accounts and I play them on the came computer; side by side monitors; are my overview settings shared?

Seems like my overview settings are always changing even after I save them. if I make a change like disabling all asteroids in tab 1; will that affect my other account?

and if that is my problem, is there a workaround?

Each character has their own overview settings.

I typically have all the characters with the same settings (export and import), and then setup tabs for each character:

* General
* PvP
* Misc
* GTFO (planets, stargates, stations, customs offices)
* Everything

I load PvP and Misc with different settings as needed.

Tau, you're a little bit wrong on that. Overview settings are shared across different characters if they are on the same account. If they are on different accounts, each character has separate overview settings. Overview settings also do not transfer across multiple computers.

If you're confused about how to set up your overview, try the EVE University overview guide. I use the E-UNI overview settings in a slightly modified form.

I believe there is a way to transfer your overview settings with the by exporting and importing it, but I'm not entirely sure. If I remember correctly, the settings are stored in an XML file somewhere. I've never needed to use it myself though....

Confirming that you are slightly off.

Overview settings are saved ACCOUNT based, not character...so all 3 character of 1 account will use the same overview settings.

The OP was using two accounts.

The point stands though, so I'll add that fact to the database, and like I always say, anybody that thinks they know everything about EVE is delusional. Blink

I think, I think that maybe what I'm doing is Opening the overview setting tab; make some changes and then switch tabs and make more changes. I think you need to shut the overview setting panel and save between each tab. Just a theory.

That would be it exactly.

Without saving each profile to a different name they all end up using the "Not Saved" profile. Changing "Not Saved" on one tab will end up with all the other tabs looking the same.
