a jump drive at you type in the name of system and jumps to it.
it can be for cap drive only.

I would certainly like to see the ability to jump to a system without the need for a a cyno. Could work like this-

- With Cyno
Current jump range and jumps to specific location in destination system designated by cyno

- Without Cyno
10-15% Shorter jump range to random location in destination system.

I feel like instead of random, it should default to the Sun, being the only reasonably large thing to lock onto from another system.

Without cyno.... you should not jump to a "random" location... If you every allowed this asinine idea, it should send the capital to a very, very designated spot in system.... like the star.... Somewhere that an enemy might anchor a bubble just in case you cyno into that system. Then, cynoing there without eyes is risky, and often leads to dead capitals!

and heres one more ideal is a hyper drive.
like warp drive but a lot faster.
also makeing it a lot harder for pirates to get you at gates on auto pilot.
also make it a high level skill as well.

So in other words you want there to just not be any PVP in eve? Or... what? I feel I'm missing the goal of this thread.

Agreed - The sun is a perfect place.

Add to that - maybe even a POS mod other deployable that tricks jump drives onto locking on to it as a gravity source.
IT'S A TRAP!

Could work for either mechanic. There is a chance the ship will jump to the decoy as opposed to the actual cyno
All to easy...

good feedback. :)

Wow. You seriously fail at capital ships on so many levels if this is the case, learn to play rather than whining for a new and hideously unbalanced feature.

No, you can't. But if you don't understand why not, no amount of explanation is going to help you.

And as I suspected, your problem is not the game, it's your perception of what the game should be.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

i did not post anything about what poeple think about me.
oh and by the way i have learned a lot from playing on the test servers.
and know others that do the same.
you have no ideal what your talking about. O.o

Being able to jump systems without a cyno needs to have major drawbacks. Jumping to a star would be a nice start, as this would introduce star camps (ooooh tingles), but i dont believe it goes far enough. I like the idea of a module set (high/mid/low) that all need to be operational on a ship for it to work (Capital Unconventional Jump Generator / High slot, Capital Jump Navigation Array / Mid slot, Capital Jump Generator Reactor Coupling / Low slot) and it would still utilize standard jump fuel. This way you dont have a battle ready cap fleet jumping into a system without a cyno, you would have a slightly less effective fleet jumping into a system. If you wanted an instant action battle ready fleet to jump in, then you would light a cyno and jump conventionally.

On a side note, This could also be applied to subcaps using a similar system of modules with similar drawbacks. The smaller version would be significantly limited in jump range (1 - 2ly MAX), but would help someone jump past a gate camp or a bottleneck system. Implementing a significant cooldown timer would be crutial. The subcap version of the moduleset would similarly gimp the ship and also the available cargo space (jump fuel).

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

maybe it lockes onto the grav sig of the sun. but with only 16AU variance, so it could be anywhere around it.

well i was just trying to keep it simple... if there was a real one you just type in cords and boom your there right where you set it but this is a game and no need to get that nit pick about it.
but in the game seting it to one spot as they just was just talking about would be a death trap.
in real life if it was real they would not know the spot you set it for.
so im just trying to keep it simple.
and yes i know it has to recharge to jump again just like the reg jump drives.
it would likey have to be put in a new cap ship with the new drive.
with a higher jump skill of some kind as well.

Eve is based around non consensual PvP. Gates restrict movement, cynos restrict movement its a massive part of the game.

Its the only thing that allows anyone to control any space in Eve because they can camp the external gates and watch for cynos so they can be relatively sure their space is safe.

This is the reason nobody was ever able to control an area long term in Ultima Online because there is no restricted movement.

What you're suggesting is to allow free movement anywhere in in the galaxy! This is completely unacceptable. If you dont want to get blown up, stay in high sec otherwise deal with it.
