Tracking Disruptor suggestions?.

I just started the Amarr epic-arc mission series, 'The Right to Rule', and immediately ran into a problem.

In the first mission, there's a bit where 4 battleships + 4 cruisers hit you simultaneously with tracking disruptors, with a range of 80-85 km.

I was initially flying a buffer-tanked abaddon with 8 meta4 T1 pulse lasers, 1 tracking computer, and 2 meta3 webs.

8x tracking disruptors drops my laser range from about 15+5 km to about 2+1 km. ouch.

No problem, says I. That's what the webs are for and immediately 2x webbed a cruiser dropping his speed to 34 m/s - 20 m/s transversal. Then I got into range around 2500 m, but I still couldn't hit him! I'm guessing that the tracking disruptors were also sapping my tracking rate, and even tho he was only 20 m/s transversal, he was still speed-tanking me.

I managed to finish the mission by completely revamping my abaddon to make him a very long range >100km sniper, and staying out of tracking disrupter range.

Are there any other suggestions out there on how to handle these tracking distrupter boats?

Honestly, the TD is being looked at.

For instance it is IMPOSSIBLE to solo plexes in Nullsec now.

(Sansha/Bloodraider)


Unless ofcourse you are in a tengu.

(You could probably add a very well tanked sentry domi to this list)

Wrong i do sansha's just fine , beside working as intended.


What i can agree on rat's TD should't have stronger effect then capsulers counterparts.

I did read that (after posting, sadly Oops), but that (very long) thread was all complaints. Honestly, that's what the OP had asked for ('feedback'), so no surprise.

However, I did not find any useful suggestions in there. So, does anyone have suggestions on how to handle the stacking penalties of TD in missions?

If your in a Turret boat, and your by yourself you have 2 options.


1: Fit tachs and really long range ammo, then use a Micro Jump Drive to try to get 100 off and snipe them.


2: Bring friends to help spread out the EW a bit.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.

I wanted to be able to solo the missions, and that seems seriously unlikely. Sad

That said, I just trained microjump drives and that may help.

yep, i ran an amarr mission out of kador because i was passing through and bored, and when they hit me with tracking disruptors (in my caldari cruise boats), I was like...

do you expect me to turret? (in the voice of james bond "do you expect me to talk?")

Nah..Amarr Epic Arc solo is offlimits now in a turret ship id say. Since seemingly every mission sports tons of TDing ships, and TD is now the death of all things turrety :(

On a side note, serps arent much better now, but at least they CAN be killed with some major effrt. Sanshas cant.

Well, since missiles are not an option, I made an apoc sniper.

Using T1 mega lasers, it's 200dps at 160 km, targetting to 170 km. with MJD and AB. Only 43k ehp using EFT, but if you're getting hit in a sniper, ur doing it rong, imho.

I'll let you know if this works.

Would you mind posting your fit if that proves to be successfull? Thanks to the MicroJumpDrive, sniping should even be possible in gated missions now.

Other than that, its now crosstrain into Caldari/and or get some help for that stupid Arc. Grmpf.

Sure, I started with this one:

And modified it to use T1 mega lasers, since I can't use T2 lasers yet.

I want those T2 lasers tho, according to EFT, they'll double my dps and increase my range too.

Ok, this sniper ship is working well. I just stay very far out of TD range and no problems.

Apoc
8x Mega Modulated Energy Beam 1, Navy Radio
2x large ancillary current routers
Large energy locus coordinator

mid:
MJD
Sensor booster x2
cap regenerator

low:
Beta reactor control diagnostic system 1
large armor repper
2x Fourier transform tracking program
3x extruded heat sink 1.

Gives 204 dps,
targeting range 167 km
optimal 146, falloff 174.

Only problem is that it's not cap stable. With the repper off, the lasers last about 6 min with my skills, 2.5 min with the repper on. These long range fights are slow, so I run out of cap reasonably often and have to dock to refill. With better skills, it should be cap stable.

One very slight annoyance is that the kiting command ("hold at range...") doesn't work above 150 km, even though you can define a default kiting distance up to 1000 km.

It gives some irrelevant comment about being unable to "hold at range" because you are in warp range.

Actually, the "approach" command also doesn't work above 150 km for the same reason, which is similarly annoying.

It's not a game-killer or anything, I just doubleclick on space near the object and a few minutes later when I get to 149 km, hit the appropriate command button.
