Hi guys I'm new! :) sorry to bring up a recurring question, I've been having an issue with choosing between these two fine mining barges. I did try to search around but the last posts about them were from 2008... -yikes- Since then a lot has changed with the specs and all...

I would class myself as a PvE player who generally hangs round in HighSec, mostly because I dislike PvP. I am currently Solo as I have not found a Corp who generally shares the same interest as me(PvE, HighSec and mining), I have not yet got the skills for a mining barge but they are in training, couple days! :)

So PvE, HighSec and Solo. I generally heard that the Retriever is the solo ship, but what one benefits more from bonus's? I know the Procurer has 1 Strip miner but a 200% bonus with Strip Miners... And the Retriever has 2 Strip miners but only a 50% bonus, wouldn't that mean the Procurer mines faster but at a reduced Ore bay size? These questions are keeping me from my decision, I really need guidance haha. Sorry to bombard you with questions but any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hullaboo.

It means that all 3 barges - Procurer, Retriever and Covetor - harvest the same amount of ore per strip-miner-cycle. The reason to pick one over another would have more to do with where and how you mine.

If you are going to solo mine, a Retriever is a reasonable choice with its larger ore bay.

If you are going to be shot at, a Procurer has a much higher tank, so the folks shooting you need to bring a lot more friends.

If you are going to be mining with a bunch of other people with an Orca in the fleet, a Covetor is a better option.

So if you are mining solo, a Retriever means less time going back to the station to unload.

That's just the answer I needed! Brilliant!

Thank you very much. :)
