tech 2 railgun ship?

Is there any interest in or plans for another railgun ship? It's a little disappointing to me that Caldaris second weapon system is railguns (supposedly) and yet the Rokh is their only turret BS.
Of the 5 pirate factions, one is hybrid, with a stasis webifier bonus.

Basically, I PVE, like railguns, and am bummed that my "progression" stops at the Rokh. Missiles bored my.

Railguns are pretty unpopular right now, they can get ridiculous range especially on caldari ships but the dps is kinda subpar.

You could always look into the Eagle, the caldari turret HAC. It has a double optimal range bonus, so it's not that popular, but it's an option.

Eagle..

Also the Rokh is boss enough to cover the rest.

Naga also uses large sized railguns.
Besides that, do what I did: crosstrain to gallente, gives you plenty ore railgun ships, though it does require you to learn armor tanking and drone skills.

Caldari ship are better with railguns than gallente ones most of the time.

Going to have to agree with this one.

I guess I'm weird, but I love my Rokh and while I've used other weapon systems when I had to, there's just something awesome about railguns as a concept that I find terribly awesome.

Was soooo nonplussed to come back after a three year hiatus to find out our Marauder was a missile boat. Ugh I remember the days when the Caldari were rail kings. Nowadays though, it's like the devs forgot about rails altogether and decided to foist missiles on us.

I'd give up a major organ to have a T2/T3/faction/Marauder version of the Rokh. In fact, I might go so far as to give up other people's major organs.

T2 + railgun + BS = Kronos.

And no, that webbing bonus doesn't make it a bad rail boat by any means. The Kronos is better off rail fit than blaster fit in most missions.

Nagas are awesome.

I've been focused Gallente but I'm just getting to the point that I'm interested to cross-train to Caldari for their hybrid ships too. Yeah, it means learning Shield tanking but I figure I should learn that anyway for the ever-popular shield-tanked Gallente gankboats. Maybe I'm silly for avoiding the missile skills, but I'm just not looking forward to grinding up a new skill chain for weapons when I could be learning other things.

It's either that or cross-train to Amarr to capitalize on armor tanking but learn the lasers and see if they are as fun for the lightshow as people say... Smile

Trying out all the things to do here in Eve - it's quite a checklist. So I made a blog Jakob's Eve Checklist

If you want to use Railguns effectively for PvE then you have chosen the wrong race for the job.

Gallente ships with tracking bonus make far better rail platforms.

They have better mobility for kiting, more lows for tracking enhancers and mag stabs and the inherent tracking bonus allows them to even deal with frigates even with 425mm Railguns if you know the basics of sniping - kiting.

In PvE you will rarely if ever need to shoot over 100km which is a range that you will easily achieve even with antimatter with 425mm Railguns II on a Talos - Thron - Kronos.

And unlike ships with no range bonus, thats achievable outside of the other ships airlock.

Yeah, well, Naga enter level 4 and gets insta popped.

Gallente almost exclusively armor tanks.

Right now I am running with 2 friends, who went minmatar. So we are just skilling up and trying to figure out what to do.

I like the Rokh, one of the better looking caldari ships. But it feels a little too slow and squishy. (Hate fighting angel BSs for instance.) And now that I'm a week away from tech 2 rails, it looks like my fit is all wrong.

One friend will probably go BS, said the machirel looks sexy. it only has 297 firepower, and 211 defense. Is that high or low for a passive speed tank. is 365 too slow for that end?

I would love some help with these builds. I have also toyed with just setting up the rokh for incursion, if i ever do any, and switching to a CNR/Navy scorp. But only 444k sp on missiles.....more missile skills might make missiles less boring.

the Nightmare is pretty awesome .. Caldari/Amarr BS both required
the Rattlesnake is really good ... Caldari/Gallente BS both required

the rattlesnake will complement your existing gallente ship/drone training
you could stop at the Gila (the cruiser) which can use Hvy Missiles, and it still has the 400m3 dronebay and 125mb bandwidth though as they are unbonused the damage from the missiles is mostly cosmetic Cool
