I'd let her live. I've always been on the side of giving AI the chance to prove itself.

After all, we're violent, murderous, selfish and unfeeling. Yet we don't kill babies at birth for what they might become.

It's the natural progression on our way of making ourselves the lords of our own creation. We create life, and we should nurture it and teach it to learn from our mistakes just like we do with our own children.

Very emotional...

Very scary if we make AI accidentally like this, if it happens, it happens and we have to live with the consequences. That said I am not in favour of intentionally developing AI, the intention of developing a sentient life form for explicit purposes of servitude is not moral in an enlightened society.

I'm more in favour of augmenting the existing human mind to gain the capacity of what we want a sentient AI to do, more like EVE's capsuleers.

I'm a bit more radical and say let us develop a sentient AI and see what comes out of it. IF it kills us, well, then that was evolution.

With respect, I'd rather we didn't develop technology in one part of the world that could decide independently of my own countries input to end humanity in the name of Darwinian struggle.

Star Trek: TNG. Season 2, episode 9. The measure of man.

Was a nice video, it somewhat reminds me of the ST episode (one of my top favs).

Hmmm... I wonder how the reaction would feel if the music were BSG music, or terminator music. That was some pretty moving music for the scene. Obviously the bot had a malfunction, otherwise the result would continue from bot to bot with the common un-randomness that digital clocking systems exhibit. I think though that once we understand how to construct organic computers, such limitations may be a thing of the past. But until then, results will be predictable, and just a construct of conditional programming.

end if

I'm in it for the money
