Hm, when patch hit I was intending to go out and buy a **** load of cruisers/new dessies to mess about with.

I just dont feel like it :s wtf?

Everytime I try to get off my ass to go and do it, I just do not see the point lol.

Maybe its because I live in WH space and getting an exit to highsec to fly cruisers in 1 at a time is putting me off :S

How are the new cruisers for everyone? General feedback?

I love how everyone is calling this "expansion" a patch.

Hint, CCP. Try harder.

lol well being fair it is just a patch to me, the new cruisers do not really benefit me neither to the new dessies, as an older player I can afford more efficient ships capable of taking on greater numbers, only reason to fly cheaper stuff is for a new challenge but I get challenged enough when I am faced 20:1. The new cruisers die to a talos from 30k like the last ones, makes no difference to me.

The whole crimewatch thing though is more annoying than ever, making it very hard to log off safed up supers.

Yeah I want to get a fee dessies for kicks but was too lazy to go to k-space :P I actualy really like the new bounty and crimewatch and even the new UI i'm finally getting used to.. there are little things here and there like 10% medium arty PG reduction that made me refit my arty Loki. Take a look at your laz0r legion as it has 10% PG reduction as well (if you didnt remember it already) . so all in all im pretty impressed with a lot of little things and bounties but nothing major

I am just happy they are tackling old issues but they should not label these as expansions being honest, expanding means adding new stuff when all they have done with this patch is balance broke ships and give the aggro timers a UI, the new dessies/mining/eccm skills, are just tiny addons to make up for the above.

So far I had only time to play for like 10 minutes... this was just enough to move some stuff and train the new Ladar skill which makes you less vulnerables to ECM... this is indeed exciting!

With regards to everything else... time will show.

Oh hello Gibbo.

For now I only tested Scythes, Stabbers and Ruptures, but I theorycrafted a bit on every non-Amarr cruisers (Don't really like Amarr cruisers).

The Caracal is now officially awesome. 25km with Rage ammo (413 DPS), 45km with Javelin, ROF bonus (instead of Kinetic damage), 2km/s, 27k EHP.

Scythes are like Scimitars with -25% repping power, -20% EHP, basically.

Stabbers can reach about 350 DPS and 18k EHP. Looks like a Vagabond, feels like a Vagabond.

The shield Rupture is awesome. 22k EHP, 1.8km/s, 500 DPS with a 20km falloff with RF EMP.

The Moa is god damn ridiculous. 50k EHP, can fit a warp scrambler (If you fit another resist mod, you get 65k EHP), Heavy Ions and get 500 DPS.

The Osprey is now officially a mini-Basilisk. Requires Caldari Cruiser V to be good, but works with IV too. It's stable, solid, can rep at 66km. A very usable logistic ship.

Shield Thoraxes will probably be FOTM for a couple days as it's awesome. You can either play it like a "Let's kite until you're far away from your friends, and then I tear you to pieces" or like a "Let's load Null and see what I can do". Neutrons will require 2 Ancillary rigs.

Armor Vexors are awesome. They were good, they got even better. Good EHPs (Somewhere around 40k iirc), 550 DPS. It's just great.

Oh and the new cruisers don't die to Taloses just like pre-Retribution. If the cruiser pilots know what they are doing....A Stabber can close-in very fast (Of course you don't want to rush a Talos from 100km away) and get a scrambler on it. From that point, just orbit at close range where it can't hit you.

Works with a Shield Thorax too, but the farther you start, the harder it gets (No penis jokes tia).

Confederation of xxPizzaxx have done a good job with 3 Thoraxes and a boosting Loki, I burned out my Talos' MWD while kiting them. Sad

Um, when you have quarterly expansions they're unlikely to be particularly huge, certainly not the size of WoW's two-year content-recycling period.

Maybe they're right. Do you remember Trinity, in 2007?

TOTAL graphics overhaul. Plus 5 new ship TYPES, resulting in 20-ish brand new ships? Plus a bunch of other stuff. Doesn't really compare. And little things, like targeting icons, are more annoying than improving, same as the unified UI last patch...err...expansion! Damn it, now you've got me doing it!

Surely you realize that it is easier to add new content to a game which is still young than to a 10 year old game which had content expansions twice a year?

The newly balanced T1 lineup of frigs and cruisers is like adding new ships, there were ships you never flew because they sucked and now theyre worthwile. Also, the little improvement in details add up over time and they improve Eve overall. Maybe the T1 stuff isn't exciting for wormhole dwellers or missionrunners but for me as a RvB player they added a ton of stuff I am looking forward to try out. They cannot please everyone after all, especially not if it's Eve community.

this added in around 15-18 ships I wouod never fly ever and buffed up a few others. as a faction warfare pilot its a huge boon. even if i do have 72m SP

also for us teaching new tpilots the game its 10x better. tjey can fly useful ships and try new ones out. that is good for all of eve. having 2 to 5 month old toons have fun with pvp but still have ships to wprk for.

thus creates new long time players

Disagree. It doesn't look like a Minnie ship anymore. It looks too sleek and doesn't have color scheme all other Minnie ships have (orange or blue windows and darkish hull colors depending on the shipyards that made it). It's missing detail that give it a sense of size like windows or communication arrays - whether you zoom in close or pull out far the hull is the same, no details/distinguished features. Also the hull doesn't reflect light the way other ships in EVE do, I can't put my finger on it, but it seems to be sort of drab when it comes to how the light works in the game.

When they updated other ships - like the prophecy, they added a ton of detail - even how the 'eyes' shifted back and forth with blinking lights was brilliant but remained Amarrish - with the Vagabond they sort of took a ship graphics that came from outside of EVE and just plugged it in rather than reworking the old hull to fit the demands of people who were miffed it didn't' have ears. They just had to add ears to fix it.

Just my opinion. Will still fly it because graphics are a small detail, the ship has awesome mechanics - but it betrays the Minmatar feel.

Most eve expansions are more comparable to content patches in other games.

The main reason being they're free.

I can see why you'd be nonplussed, but do not underestimate what a few T1 cruisers can do in the hands of competent pilots. Some of the T1 cruisers are, as said before, better than their T2 counterparts (eg; Moa > Eagle; Vexor > Ishtar as a brawler) if for no other reason than you get close to the performance for a smidge of the ISK, and until people get used to it, you'll pull down other people's pants and play with their ling-longs at will.

In the frigate sphere, the Maulus is ridonk. Totally ridonk. It outclasses most people's swiss army knife damp-fit Lachesis' (and yes, a few people do fit them for damps) because you may as well fit 3 bonused damps to a Maulus because you've got nothing else to do.

Fighting outnumbered in T3 cruisers is a nice idea, but now there's affordable and effective T1 logi cruisers, you do NOT want to get blobbed on purpose to hero fight 20:1. You'll get damped by a Maulus, scrammd by a suicide Atron, and the horde of nubs are fielding 20M ISK cruisers doing 700 DPS each.

In my opinion, it will take some getting used to.

And the Caracal? For what you pay and what you can get out of the ship, properly rigged nanocal gangs with decent point support (an actual Lach fit for range point) and you can do demonic things with them, with Loki boosts for speed, sig and point range.

The proper way to engage with the game is, take an alt, join RvB or FW with it, buy a stack of hulls and fittings, get them Blackfrogged/Redfrogged to wherever, bulk produce fitted ships, and just sit down with a half dozen mates and go roaming.

Also, I know this sounds a bit effeminate...but ship assembly array + bp + orca load of minerals + a few hours = hulls. Lots of hulls.
