Significantly higher CPU usage

Pre-retribution I typically ran 12 clients at 80-85% cpu (all graphics turned to low). After setting up to mine today, my CPU was pegged at 100%, I was having serious cursor and graphics lag. The game is unplayable with these conditions. After closing 4 clients, the CPU was down to the 80-85% range again.

Im really hoping there are some fixes on the way to streamline the code. I dont want to build a new computer this week.Ugh

I seem to have found my problem. Everything runs perfectly fine until I turn on my shield boosters, and this only effects the system if all the clients are zoomed in, where u can see and hear the effects. I cant really tell if its a graphics or sound problem, but one of them seems to be the problem.

Petition filed....and I wait.

Hi, thanks for reporting this.

Can you check whether you have the Present Interval set as Interval Immediate in the Graphics menu?

If it is try setting it to Interval One and see if that makes a difference.

[edit]
Could you also check the performance with sound disabled?

well this gave me some unexpected results.

It was set to interval immediate , so i set them all to interval one. This took my CPU down from 70% to 50%, so I was happy. Then I turned the shield boosters on, which didnt peg the CPU, it took about 10 seconds for the CPU to settle in the 90-100% range. So then I wasnt as happy. I zoomed all the clients all the way out, and the CPU settled back in at the 70% range.

Then I disabled the sound, which dropped it to around 30%, very happy now. I zoomed all the clients in and the CPU is bouncing between 35 and 50% now.

As much as people joke about "eve has sound?" i find the sound quite helpful. So for now, I'll be keeping it on and just zooming most of the clients out.

Also, I had no idea what this whole interval thing is, google is my bestest friend, this thread was the second result

Do you have a dedicated sound card or integrated?

Unless your sound card has a dedicated processor for encoding/decoding your cpu will be used for that on top of everything else.

Maybe with the new sound, it is just putting more stress on the cpu for the encoding/decoding process.

I could be wrong but just a guess.

he is right. Get a sound card and your prob might be resolved. You could as some friends to see if they have an older one that will fit in your computer to test this theory first though.
