Longer memberlist in local / alternate layout

Hi,
today I want to present to you my thoughts of an alternate layout of the chat, concerning the member list.
As we all know, in the current layout the input box spans all th way from the left to the right chat box corner. In my alternate layout proposal the member list is elongated and the input box stops at the left border of the member list.

I've tinkered a screenshot to clarifly my thoughts:

As you can see, the room gained will allow a couple more names to be displayed in the member list, improving overall utility.
