Why not have a simple function in eve gate where you can put in your weekly availability on a form, where it converts it from your timezone to eve time? This could then be fed to the ceo/directors of the corp your in to view their overall membership availability and better plan events through the eve calendar. Does anybody else like this idea? +1 if you do!

May be usefull, but I would not support this as there is plenty of outgame tools to do this and manpower coding stuff like this has to come from somewhere.
Something plain and simple is to run poll on the alliance forums maybe ?

Can you link a few programs then?
Just that running polls for that is lengthy and you can't get very detailed with times of each day.

Are you familiar with Google Calendar? The CEO (or anyone in corp) can set up one Google Calendar account that everyone can access; each player can put the times they are available on one calendar, and the visual representation is very easy to interpret - the CEO can easily see every overlapping time, etc. Each player can have his/her own color, etc.

Also, any players that have gmail/google apps accounts already (it's always free) can be invited to view/use that calendar without needing to use a "shared" account. This would be a more secure option, allowing the CEO to see when everyone will play, but not allowing a potential spy access to the same information.

That help?

meta gaming potential there.

Either way I agree there needs to be more built in calander utilities and a built in excell program as well.

Dust 514's CPM 1 Iron Wolf Saber Eve mail me about Dust 514 issues.

Well the whole point of eve gate and the calendar is to broaden social networking and collaboration through eve, I would imagine tying this kind of feature into eve would bring more people to use eve gate rather google calendar. I don't see how this is meta-gaming or a breach of security to spies?

I don't think its a bad idea at all, of course there's always alternatives, but that's not eve and certainly not eve gate.

Anyway its just a feature idea :)

I'm an EveGate supporter myself, and anything that makes it more useful and gets more and more people using it is a plus in my eyes. Not to hard of a concept to implement and very easy to expand upon.
