CCP FoxFour and decreased difficulty of 9/10 & 10/10 DED complexes

"Guristas Fleet Stronghold & Guristas Fleet Outpost now do Kinetic damage with its citadel Torpedo. Blood Raider Central Bastion now does EM damage with its citadel torpedo."

Finding out how to solo these complexes (without alts) is something that I took a lot of pride in pulling off.

Now that you just have to tank a single damage type and these complexes are now "easymode", are there
any intentions to give us some more challenging DED sites?

(don't mention unrated sites like Provincial HQ, there has to be a reward otherwise it will be ignored).

98% kinetic resists on a Prot; switching targets or not, this will be easier :) bye bye EM Hardener o/ o/

The point that you so trivially dismiss is that it was a challenge in the game to do the maze and
other such complexes SOLO and that part has now been made much easier, even trivialized. For a
lot of people that live away from empire mission agents mastering these DED sites was something to
do for fun and a challenge between PVP action.

I was wondering if you had thought about that at all and if you had thought about what the next
level of sites should be for the people who have done it all.

To be sure that you haven't made any content unplayable with the new A.I. changes you
have turned the hardest DED complexes into level 4 missions. Comprende?

I apologize if you interpreted my replies as condescending, that was in no way my intention. Please keep in mind that it is Retribution release day and I am trying to answer as many questions as possible in about 7 different areas.

On top of that I am not the one who made the change to the damage type of the this. I worked on the AI changes. I do not know the exact reason that this change was made, but I believe it was made because while a callenge is all find and good it is not fair for us to say " all Guristas do X and Y damage" and then through Z damage at you.

Changing the damage type had nothing to do with making the content playable with the new AI, that was just a side effect. :)

ohmy...
now ya got so much spare slots from resists, that you can actually fit some damage mods and make plex with 2-3 one signature tanked ships...
99%EM resist loki/broadsword streaming plexes with breeze...
overall 10/10 is WAY too easy, Fit and pimped ship should not be the only thing needed to complete it, some skill should be involved too.

I'd imagine this change was more aimed at those, who by some sheer insanity try to run them in something else than the T3 (or maybe T2) that have appropriate resistances solo without much/any drone assistance, hence unaffected by the AI change.

"We want PvE activities to require active participation and mirror PvP more closely." Stacking penalty for NPC EWAR then? Lock range under 9km from over 100 in a BS is not fun. Nor is two NPC web drones making me crawl 10m/s. PvP SW-900 x5: 75m/s.

Thank you for that proper response. I'll just view the EM damage that those complexes used to do as an error that
will be fixed in this expansion and that now Guristas complexes will do their proper Kinetic/Thermal damage and nothing else.
I also wanted to know if there was something on the drawing board for
something more difficult (PVE related) for us old timers to cut our teeth on.


The only point that I was trying to convey was that you might have inadvertently removed, or at least lessened, the
challenge that those complexes provided.

You used to be able to do them in a few T2s, T3s, HICs and probably one or two more, solo.

Now you just triple stack kinetic hardeners, oversize your booster, grab your favorite drug and bring whatever you like.

Can you actually tweak them so they the 3rd part of the fleet staging thingy doesn't spawn each time @ 17 jumps away?

That's a matter of geography.

i once living in a part of space where the 3rd part of (Guristas) fleet staging almost always boomeranged to within 3 jumps of where I got the 1st escalation or where I scanned down the 1st part..

Where I'm at now, the (Blood Raider) fleet staging almost always sends me at least 14 jump to the 2nd stage, sometimes mroe than that for the 3rd.

It's annoying, but I don't think changing it would be a great idea, make things to easy and everyone starts exploring....

rofl, me too.

It is an unblanced situation, BEFORE this change I could solo the Maze with a tengu (i usually did mach/tengu to do it faster). Now that's been made easier. Where as the blood 10/10 still needs a minimum of 2 ships).

It makes the whole DED rating system worthless, the guristas 10/10 is easier than most races 7/10.

CCP foxfour ignore the haterz the damage change was good.

You can revert the AI change though. ;)

my solution to the patch worked AI in 8/10 and 10/10, is 2 logi and 1 vindicator with 1600 dps. Im lucky to have 2 alts with logi lvl5 for this, but i suppose not everybody can say the same.
