Should we just stfu jita local?

How useful is Jita local to you guys?

Vote for shutting it down for good, it´s just full of S*** S**** and B********

Got to admit, tired of seeing the same scams over and over again for 5 years.

No I don't think that anyone believes you are a psycology student doing an experiement.....
No, that 1 trit is not worth 2.5bil

Not that I think it would change, but same as with telesales people, I just wish I could send a electric current back down the phone line ;)

couldn't care less since i've got other stuff (ISBoxer video feeds) covering up the text portion of the local window.

But jita local does cause lag.. i'm all for putting it into delayed mode and shutting down the chat.

turning local off in any market hub is a good idea. of course, i just minimize it.

I don't see any reason for this at all silly turtles! We already know you are allowed to scam in EVE. Jita has never really lagged for me. Yes I am really new and it may have lagged before, but currently it does not lag at all so :| Also! Jita is one of the best places to talk about silly things! Scammers are interesting sometimes, just play along a little and you'll see.

I propose there should be a channel called Jita Local so we can talk in there ALL the time! :D It can't be that much worse than the help channel :]

i just cant see how some these people get scammed they must be blind or stupid .

but yes it does get annoying but then i just minimize local these days .

Utilizing a spam prevention fee there would definitely cut down on the crap, and is a very good idea. Perhaps someone should form a thread with that as the title in order to garner it more attention...

CCP mostly sucks at their job, but Veritas is a pretty cool dude.

There already is a channel called 'Jita Local'.
Have you even tried to carry on a convo with another player in Jita local chat?

The local chat channel is filled with so many scam contracts that rotate so fast that you can barely get a word in edgewise. And yes, the constant scam contracts flooding all of the major Trade Hub chat channels does indeed add to lag, along with gate camping, PvP combat outside the stations, players docking and undocking in said stations, players entering and exiting the system, etc.


Personally, I think CCP should add a new skill to the game so players could sue for False Advertisement on scam contracts. I'm talking about contracts that say 'Full set of +5 Implants' when there's actually only a couple of them contained in the contract. Or contracts that say 'Faction Ship' when it's actually a T1 ship, etc.

Legal Proceedings:

This skill allows a lawyer to sue one previously flagged contract once every 24 hours for False Advertisement per level. Each level trained would allow the ability to sue another previously flagged contract plus add another 10% to the settlement fee. The settlement fee is a percentage of the contract price to be removed from the wallet of the contract owner. If the owner of the flagged contract doesn't have enough isk to pay the settlement fee, any remaining isk in the contract owners wallet is removed as settlement fee and the contract is then removed from public view.


Level 1 = ability to sue 1 previously flagged contract every 24 hours for 20% of the contract price.
Level 2 = ability to sue 2 previously flagged contracts every 24 hours for 30% of the contract price.
Level 3 = ability to sue 3 previously flagged contracts every 24 hours for 40% of the contract price.
Level 4 = ability to sue 4 previously flagged contracts every 24 hours for 50% of the contract price.
Level 5 = ability to sue 5 previously flagged contracts every 24 hours for 60% of the contract price and special ability.

Special Ability:
Legal Proceedings Level 5 basically turns the Lawyer into Judge, Jury and Executioner allowing him to 'Flag' one different contract every 24 hours for False Advertisement. That contract would then need to be ratified or flagged by 2 other level 5 Lawyers to enable Legal Proceedings against the contract. Sorta like the 3 strike rule.

I was talking about one of those private channels you can connect to anywhere, not the actual Jita Local. (I have now created a channel called Jita Local if anyone wants to join. :D

Gate-camps and people undocking add to lag because things are actually happening. Yes the client still has to send through all the text going back and forth but compared to everything else in the game it doesn't matter. Basically what I am saying is removing Jita Local wont change anything. You can already minimize it and this game is so old if you have any kind of decent computer you won't lag in Jita :D Gotta see those pretty Feroxes undocking!

I have had a conversation in Jita Local before too! Its not easy but its fun sometimes! Just do a spin and try it out.

Thanks to visiting Jita too much. I now have a problem where I can't see orange (and don't tell me it's yellow) at all, anymore. I now have to get my Vitamin C from somewhere else because I don't see the fruit either. Sad
