Drone issues and smartbomb upgrade

How about we go around the drone issues by upgrading the smartbombs abit.


In its simplicity: Make smartbombs aoe damage not trigger concorde/combat flag if it hits ships outside the mission owners fleet.

This would enable the use of these audiovisually very pleasing modules in highsec missioning without getting concorded by the first guy that scans you and follows you to the mission right after.


Obviously its not ment to be the only fix for drones but you cant argue it wouldnt be nice.

That would make some sense and its a reason its never gonna ring a bell at CCP.

Shooting pirate ships is ok, but if you scratch pirate building or any stupid object in vicinity, concord warps in and kills you.
Then they watch pirates for 15mins and warp off. NPC AI right there.

Honestly it would be much easier to just change the missions.

As in,
L1 - frigs only.
L2 - frigs and dessies.
L3s - cruisers and battlecruisers
L4s - battlecruisers and battleships
etc.

That way, you would never have to deal with pesky frigates in L4s, and the issue would be a moot point.

Think about it, are frigates really a challenge? Provided your drones survive, with decent skills they alone will take out a frig very quickly. If frigs spawn at range, you can blap them on approach with a single volley. Is that interesting or challenging gameplay? I've known 6 year olds that wouldn't find it either interesting or challenging.

No, there are people that run lvl4 with noobs so that they can get standing and help kill frigs. doing this would limiit new players flying with their fleets.

I guess I was abit unclear in my hurry this morning.

What I ment was that the smartbombs would operate flag free only inside the mission areas. Standard concord response anywhere else in highsec.

Afterall if you are sneaking around inside someones mission .. your up to no good by default and if you ram into smartbomb aoe then its too bad for you.

Here is what would happen:
-you get probed while running a mission using em/therm resists
-a bunch of smartbomb battleships warp on top of you using exp/kin smartbombs
-the end


CCP should just make a new module thats like smartbombs except it only affects the things that you have targeted. Kinda like FoF missiles but without the lottery thing.

Does this include beacons and accel gates? Just trying to see how i need to position myself when I start one up.

That would not be the case ... since those ships warping in are not part of the mission owners fleet. Thus their smartbombing brings concorde on them as normal.

Essentially just the mission owner and his fleet has the immunity from the aoe damage bringing in concorde or crimeflags. Effective only inside the mission space.
