So, yesterday, i finally got the balls to fit out a battleship, had plenty of isk for a few fleet modules, all in all spent around 800mill, did me some L4s and felt good to do them finally!
Today, the new AI changes and all im reading on the forums is that people are struggling solo, and that drones are getting popped instantly, so now again, i am scared to take my shiny new ship (yes i can afford to lose it, but i shouldnt have to :P) into missions.

I read a post by a CCP guy about the ai changing targets and he said he ran 10 maybe 12 sites and in that entire time he lost only 2 drones, what im reading from players is that they lose all drones pretty much right of the bat and have frigates wtih a warp scram on them and bye bye shiny ship.

Is it really as bad as it seems? Yeah i see "take out frigates before they get too close" but sometimes it aint that easy!

Ya put a few crystals in your head to solify shields and use autocannon to rip up everything even frigs. I'm shooting for the Rusty trusty maruder myself now that I'm not having as much fun in my Navy Dominix.

Is it a rock point a lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship point a lazer at it and profit. I dont see any problems here.

Ahh, same ship i'm running then. I'll have to check out the new ai this evening. I would think the changes will vary depending on the pirate faction you are facing.

Im quite new to guns, i was flying caldari, mainly drake for all missions until i decided i hated the raven! I think i was possibly overtanked actually, if EVEhq is right, and my DPS was good enough to get through fast enough.

I still struggle slightly with frigates, i believe its tracking speeds? Anything i can do to compensate?

EDIT - im currently using 800mm cannons, with missions specific ammo

if they get too close there is nothing you can do with guns, as you will basically never hit them. If they get closer than 10k for me i cannot hit them at all (well chances are I'll not be able to hit them)

Coppied my post from another thread:

''I am confident that the drone Nerf Imposed by the AI upgrade will be overcome with a little ingenuity. I have already found that sending drones (Warriors, for speed) off to the farthest target has the enjoyable side effect of getting the annoying hard to hit ships to chase them. So everything that was to close is now at optimal and dies quite quickly.

Think of it more as Bait than Ammo.''

I fly an AC Machariel and have done about 12 LVL4 missions since the update this afternoon. I really dont think the AC's are going to be hurting much. get the 'scan res' boosted up as high as you can, locking the friggs early is the key to killing them before they get inside your gun range.

Things that keep me up at night;  Why do we use a voice communication device to send telegraphs? Moore's Law should state, Once you have paid off the last PC upgrade you will need another.

Fit 3-4 rapid launchers, use them to kill frigates.

Personally I like the new change adds a new challenge to missions. Only real pilots I've seen QQing about are the AFK runners but for the rest of us it's not as dull anymore we actually have to click down the menu to see the drones are taking dmg :) Also a side note ran some missions with a friend and the whole target switching to greater threat works and will catch you off guard if you're not careful lol.

But when I do it makes the Blue's rage, lol.

Take advantage of the 2 minute windows you get, use T1 drones, and start treating them like ammo. Apart from dedicated drone boats you only use lights to kill frigates anyway and T1 drones do that just fine while being dirt cheap.

Compared to the bounties and mission rewards u make up for any cost of a flight of t2 lights any day. Like some have said in other posts I'd rather lose a drone than a couple 100 mil to a billion or 2 in a ship loss.

These are level 4 missions we are talking about. If you are so close to failing a level 4 mission that T2 light drones rather than T1 are the difference between success and failure then you have no business doing level 4 missions, much less doing them in a 2 billion dollar ship.

Thanks for all the replies, aside from the one obnoxious guy, yeah, i suck, if you read you would see it basically says "i suck, im now crying because of the reports of drones being useless" so thanks for pointing out what i already said.

Will give it a shot later, going to replace all my faction mods first though haha.

I've run into a very serious problem doing Level 4 missions. I seem to pull full-room auto aggro even in missions like Vengeance, which is comparable to tanking the bonus room of Angel Extravaganza or the final room of Worlds Collide. Needless to say, not easy.

One of my friends lost a Vargur in Vengeance yesterday, although that was partially due to player error. I'd just like to say that you will have to be far more careful in what missions you accept and what missions you don't, because if you're not really good at L4's, you will probably be losing a few ships thanks to the new AI.

From what I've been reading on the forums this is a bug. Entire rooms shouldn't be auto-aggroing. There's a CCP confirmation somewhere around here. Too lazy to find it.

I haven't done an L4 since the update, but I plan to re-fit my arty Sleipnir this weekend and run a few just to give the ship a shake-out. Prior to that I used HML Tengu (also hit by the update) and Cruise SNI for L4's recently.

As of the patch, the first angel only room in WC is way worse than the final room due to full room aggro on warp in. Still not THAT hard, but it can get a bit hairy if done wrong.

It's not all missions.

I did Unauthorized Military Presence (Angel) and the pocket after gate did not all agro. In fact, I was able to pick off individual groups.

Most of the missions I've done involve full agro. Is this a matter of CCP hotfixing something or what?
