I've exhausted everything i originally wanted to do, and now just keep training skills while i wait for new things.

Maybe its more different on the FW side of things .
Maybe petty corporate warfare is not for me.
Maybe there , people truly believe in the ideas they fight for, not just hanging on for the benefits or because they have nothing better to do.
Maybe , there's still hope for a truly immersive, escapist experience.

My purpose is to do what I want when I want and not let someone else dictate what I do or when I do it. My goal? To have fun anyway I see fit.

Play EvE how you want to play it and do not let others dictate how you play. Evolve your playstyle to protect yourself from others! Even in "PVE", "PVP" is there, lurking in the shadows.

Sounds like you've come to a point where you realize that you don't like what you're doing.

Good.

Now we'll see if you quit, or branch out to carve a new niche that you enjoy.

I don't know about you, but the latter hasn't failed me yet.

Me: Have fun with other space ship nerds, laugh on comms, meet nice people, then if space ships explode it's awesome if don't it's still an awesome experience provided most have decent social skills, opened minds and respect for each other.

Op: Always remember this is a game, a space ships game and actually ZTHE SPACE SHIP GAME, however whatever time you spend playing it it's RL time you'll never get back to socialize in RL with other nice people, maybe a nice looking lady or man, have a nice time with friends you might as well not see for months or years for whatever reason, family etc.

Just don't take it too seriously and if this game becomes a second job, then yes, it's time for a break and get back to life.

I used to make Eve a job, but I managed to kick myself in the head enough to remember it is supposed to be a game. You need to make your own fun sometimes. I tend to have three goals:

The ‘log-in’ goal : What am I going to do tonight. I have enough skills and ships to tinker on several levels (exploration, missioning, market, hauling, mining, BSing,etc..) I know about how much time I have to play and how long each option takes.

The ‘short-term’ goal: What do I want to have done in the next week or two? This often includes anything manufacturing related or research related. The also tends to cover changes to the training queue plans as well are pre-positioning ships for losses (FW/PVP)

The ‘long-term’ goal: What project do I want to do next? These are where the long training chains usually start. Command ships, Logistics, POS preperations (fuel, towers, etc) for WH space, Low-sec experiments, etc.

I also have this spread across two accounts. Right now I have two toons in FW, one is living solo in WH space, one is my daily driver(main, jack of all trades, master of none), one is my research/manufacturing toon, and the last is my mining alt. All have at least one jump clone in case I want to play on the other side of the galaxy.

This message brought to you by Experience(tm). When common sense fails you, experience will come to the rescue. Experience(tm) from the makers of CONCORD.

Apparently you were not here during the initial Incarna release, nor immediately after Fanfest this past April.

My ingame goals change from week to week, so it's difficult to say what my purpose is. Honestly, i probably lack focus.

Thats on the grand scheme of things , but to the ducklings of the society , they all just fall in line .
Nothing much to see to be honest.
Shoot who they told you to shoot , mine where they told you to mine, guard the gate they want to be protected.

In the end of the day , its just a tad more numbers in my wallet and a few killmails.
Once you've seen it , you've seen it all to be honest.

The tears?
Never seen it.
Cos I just pod them anyway and they understand its 0.0 and its expected to lose some ships sooner or later.

I guess that's the downside of having an overly-mature community, no more hot blooded drama and war on principles and faith, only on money and power.

No more epic speech like
"FOR FAR TOO LONG HAVE WE WAGED WARS ON HATE AND GREED !
FOR FAR TOO LONG HAVE OUR CIVILIZATIONS PROGRESSED THROUGH UNNECESSARY BLOOD SHED !!
TODAY WE STAND UNITED NOT BY RACE , SEX OR BELIEF!
TODAY !
WE STAND TOGETHER! AS ONE !
AS HUMANS!
COMRADES! TOGETHER, WE'LL REACH ALL CORNERS OF THE UNIVERSE!
HUMANITY WILL TRIUMPH!!!
FOR MOTHER EARTH!!!!!"

More.
"If we take geminate, we'll cease control of the eastern region and acting as a plug towards the bleed out points. That'll also provide us with a safe haven .. blah blah blah."

Its too calculated, its too logical... its ...... dull
Personally, I find that kind of sad.

Well thats just down to how you choose to play, I get all those things every day, otherwise i wouldn't still be here after 8 years.

As for wars on principles and faith I guess you missed 4 years of 0.0 content based entirlely on principles. The current 0.0 politics is crap for sure, but again thats down to the players, don't like it then change it.

What is your purpose in EvE? To Kill

What do you plan to achieve? Money, a large collection of corpses/your loot and a very large bucket of harvested tears.

My purpose is simple, really.

To crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentations of their carebear alts.

Well, I guess that means Carebear Mains are not your enemy.

Must kill the space rocks. They must all die. Everyone of them. They are evil. They must be crushed into tiny little pebbles. Someday we shall overcome. Someday our children will live in a galaxy free from menace of all asteroids.

To hang with cool people I've met in game, go about my business as I choose to do so, when I choose to do so, while having sociopaths mess with me as little as possible.

I'm new enough that I still have whole areas of the game to discover, but mostly for me it's people. I have old friends here, and I've made new friends, and at the end of the day that's what it all comes down to.

It helps that I haven't been driven away by any declaration that I should stay on the rails and enjoy the view. The freedom of EVE is refreshing.

I enjoy working as a part of a group to accomplish something I couldn't individually. I enjoy the comradery you share with other fleet members as you travel home from a fight. I enjoy answering game-mechanic questions other corpies/alliance-mates might have.

My goal is to help other people have fun. Getting on killmails is nice too.
