Has CCP said which month the racial ship skills will take effect?

I'm trying to plan my 23 days to BC V, and all I've heard about racial ship skill timing is:


  • Not on Dec 4th
  • Some time after Dec 4th
  • After the BC's get their tiericide/balancing makeover


I've read speculation ranging from January through "next summer," but has CCP said anything
definitive?

I don't get all the fuss about this. Just train the skills now and be done with it.

He might me half way through something he needs now and Battlecruiser isn't a priority.

OP better safe then sorry, to get the full effect you need each racial Cruiser to 3 BTW.

Yeah, I finished my racial frigs to IV, dessy's to V, racial cruisers to 3, just have 23d left to BC V.

But my drone and missile skills really suck and I'd prefer to solidify them before taking
that 23d with (effectively) no near-term improvements in missioning effectiveness.

I know that for PvP it is possibly the greatest skill I have ever trained, these ships are phenomenally fun and are next up on the Tiericide block.

I know it is a little silly not to announce a time table and that they will probably put 2 months notice but if you are ever going to PvP then a 23 day train is nothing to a 92 day train because you were shanghaied.

If you have a list of immediates you need done now that don't take much time then fine but my advice, overheat your MWD and burn towards Battlecruiser Skill as fast as you can.

They are amazing ships for PvP, Ratting and Low Grade Exploration.

CCP Fozzie did post a very strong recommendation that we do that training now. I very much doubt that we will get any further notification of the change until we're reading about it in the forums the day after the patch.

It is now December, and January is the beginning of next year. CCP Fozzie stated that the skill change would happen "early next year". The changes to these skills were important enough to me that I burned bonus remaps on all my alts on all my accounts in order to accommodate the expedited training to destroyers 5 (and BC 5 for those accounts which I intend to fly BC with in the next couple of years).

Besides, if someone is working on Drone skills, I think you'll find you get a greater bonus from the 10% per level of BC skill in the Myrmidon than from any similar drone skill that takes 23d to train (well, Drone Interfacing excepted).

I'm hoping for another bonus remap to help us cope with the expedited skill plan change. But I'm not banking on it, and I very much doubt that the bonus remap will be available for long enough to use it for BC5.

Or about 92 days of training because you though 15% more drone damage increasing you mission isk/hours ratio by barely 10% at the end of 23 days was worth that damn much.

Regardless of when it is or if there are other things you are training now I would recommend just going for the BC V now as when it does come you will reap the benefits of the change (as long as you have all the other skills associated like Dessie V, all cruisers to III and all frigates to IV).

Sure it is a long skill to commit too, but you will have to take those 23 days out at some point (assuming you want the benefits) so my way of thinking is that you may as well get it out of the way now... I did.

would be nice of ccp to give out a bonus remap before the change that way its your own fault if you didnt go for maxing the skills.

^this, better train them NOW, because CCP could change them on the 01/01/2013.

Note: Yes I really think they will do that because they recommended to train them now.
Note 2: Battlecruiser V and Destroyer V are fine skills to have anyway.

Change will come into effect after the devs have returned from their vacations, so "soon" means sometime after mid-January most likely.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Im stepping in here because i think that what has happened is unjustified.

A long ass tgim ago CCP stated what upcoming plans on the new skill tiers. That pretty much got us all going away and skilling all cruisers to 5 dessies to 5 all frigs to 5 too.

Now I hear the argument about having all those is win anyway and yes thats very true. But at the time they told us the plans they should have said xmas time 2012 perhaps the first quarter of 2013.

I wish id have actually trained different skills upto yet, I wanted carrier 5 and fighters 5 by now but instead i did all cruisers to 5 dessies to 5 frigs to 5 etc.

CCP need to stop telling us about stuff thats NOT HAPPENING FOR ANOTHER YEAR.

I just trained BCs V and Dessies V straight away once it was confirmed, in case I forgot later.

Now I have god-mode BCs and can give the Sabre a go Pirate

Eh, why would “us all” do that? All you needed was BC V and Dessies V to get the most out of it — if you chose to train 28 ranks worth of cruisers and frigates to V instead of carriers and fighters, then that's entirely your (poor) decision.

Hell no. A year in advance for a massive skill reshuffle is probably just about the perfect time frame since it means you can plan your remaps properly.

-180 days to Destroyers V

Actually, I stopped counting since I can't remember when I trained those.
I had better skills to train at that time but thought that since I want to get those at some point anyways so why not do them as soon as possible.

That sounds pretty specific. Do you have a source for that?

Is that consistent or inconsistent that it will happen "after their tiericide?"

Forgive me if the answer to that should be obvious, I'm stlil pretty new to EVE.
I guess I assumed that tiericide would take 2-3 months minimum.
