probably this or at the very least a much diminished player base.

Game is going to need some rather massive, and I say massive changes to it's graphic engine as well as combat mechanics to stay relevant 10 years from now. 4 chan with spaceships will just not be enough.

Eve never actually 'dies'... The closest it's got to is 'dying' and that was 10 years ago.

1:TomB returns from prolonged meditation...and promptly takes back the nerfbat - gives concord a day-off to celebrate the occasion.
2: DS returns, and in one day takes back the record of most posts.
3: HK returns, and in is promptly banned for baiting DS.
4: BoB return, and realise they they didn't want to return anyway.

Science theories that are currently outside of linked up theory become a predominant theme in EVE.

Space above and below the New Eden Cluster will be connected via chargeable jump drives, they will accomodate player owned stargates, lead to both null-sec and hi-sec and will require a corporation password to activate.

New fiction links up New Edens past, political overtones and cultural reasoning to the point where history in New Eden is now 2 decades long.

Ships would have been rebalanced to the point of a bona fide rock paper scissors format, with the same relationships available in groups of 3, 5, 9 and above 15 causing organised human behaviour to be manifest in ways that have previously only been exemplified in bacterial lifeforms.

The single shard universe will remain single shard, but new oope posts will discuss the relevance of shard when compared to CCP's new server housed in synthetic brain cells on top of an electron-sheet.

Quantum Computing and the codifying language needed will have been rolled out several times in several different versions and will be obsolete.

The computer you will use to play EVE will be soo small, if someone makes you sit playing for long enough, until you sneeze you could lose your pc, smell-this technology becomes inundated with pepper-spray requests via Distributed-Provision-of-Pepper-Spray attacks.

CCP have released some of the concepts that have been waiting for Customer demand to exceed the currently inferior levels (compared to re-balance / profitability requests)

Some players have opted to freelance for CCP and space vampires are now a bona fide faction.

Untold events surrounding the Ancient races have had sequential play in the societal mainstream causing many players to discuss openly new technological concepts arising from mutual understanding, leading to adaptive modules like the Armor Phasing module to become available for every slot.

CCP Fozzie won several awards for work carried out balancing, to equilibrium, phased effect modules that vary in potency from one second to the next.

New Module requiring a hi-slot has been developed that allows players to apply one damage-type change to charges+ammo once fired, David Beckham is the most potent Amarrian pilot, alongside Steven Gerrard. Neuro-visual interfaces have allowed this change to be incorporated into CCP's model.

Panoramic goggles have been incorporated into the EVE spectrum and all HUD elements are now viewable in areas of vision representing their location in the, now understood, brain.

Extra-Vehicular-Activity is still a major lure for new players in the EVE experience, and youtube is saturated with videos showing in-game players stood next to airlocks with full-feel suits now in easily obtainable supply outside of game.

Interesting question and the answer is no one knows lol,but i would speculate that
1)Eve and Dust have merged into one massive game, and players can fly ships or fight as dust soldiers /mercs,as they please.
2)All the mini professions are a playable game in their own right, so corps are made up of players with thier own industril &retail empires where they own factories shops mining compainies ect.but intergrated so EVE/Dust as a whole makes sense.
3)The forums will still be full of moans and gripes (Human nature )lol
4)There will be a new BOB or Goons ,everybody moans about
5)There will be new factions ,and thus new faction ships for us to drool over
6)the EVEverse will have twice as many systems as it has now.
7)Blob warfarebecomes more and more expensive ,and SOV changes mean planets matter
8)High-sec is where new players start as now ,till they have their own little industrial empire ,on . planets and stations.

This is actually a very interesting question. When we consider that we are rapidly approaching EVE's 10th birthday, a retrospective might also be nice. Go back to the archives and find out what people were saying 10 years ago, what their hopes and aspirations were for themselves and EVE, then get the same input from people now and see how things match up.

I'll be keeping an interested eye on this thread Cool

Ten years ago everyone was

1. endlessly speculating about dreadnaughts and what role they would play
2. Wishing that there was some sort of counter for safe spots as it was uncounterable
3. Wishing that there was WiS

If Eve is still... Online (heh i made a stupid funny) in ten years and actually holding a solid playerbase then by god CCP is actually doing something damn right about this game no matter what changes happen.

Remember. A surviving game depends on many things (and money) and not listening to every insensible request ever given by a forum poster (and money). Changes will be made that will make people leave and make people join or come back (or they absolutely tank it by unbalancing the game so badly its unplayable and everyone flocks to a rival game which most likely by then will exist in its entirety)

EVE needs a proper anniversary party. Some kind of celebration video on YouTube like a montage of trailers, good times, bad times... everything, even incarna, needs to be remembered to remind us that the next steps forward need to be as constructive as possible to keep EVE alive and kicking and as original and revolutionary as possible.

I've heard of CCP giving its players gifts and what not on anniversaries - the only gift I'm interested in is that in ten years time, I'll still be flying the spacelanes of New Eden. That, plus I'll have my masters degree and be working as an investigative journalist in an as yet undecided field.

But if the devs insist on tenth anniversary gifts, I want snowball launchers, and just to mix things up a little, a My Little Pony cannon.

In 10 years time everything in EVE will be based on quicktime event and you will be able to play it with console controller (with one button)

What i hope...

Dust players and eve players will be able to mix ( as in, able to land on planet, or able to board a ship )

No more gates, but "a la startrek" jumpdrives to travel to other systems

Able to "stick control" small ships.

Player build "supermotherships" , basicly a station with engine's and ( multiple ) pilots.

And give me my cowboyhat and boa to dress up my toon :)

eve is gone in 10 years like red alert. wasted in the past. No not trolling. Its the truth the only reason why people playing if the sp point the have gather over the years the stick with eve because you dont want to do lose 10 years of skillpoints. Thats the only reason why people still playing eve. Like many people say if the stop making WiS or New stuff or the need to make something to let you playing more time in eve except isk farming, lp or finding a pvp battle. The gone die. Slow pvp is out of this time. The need to adept or indeed die what idiot want to play 3 hours for 1 battle? nobody.

If the want to survive 10 years the need to change. So far the indeed losing players yep thats right the old ones. But new ones is comming dont shut the door and see if this old "true" eve players stick around here 10 years from now on.

10 Years from now,

CCP Releases the long anticipated content patch, once known as Ambulation, then known as Walking in Stations, then known as Space Poker and Alcohol, then known for the next few years as We need Space Cybersex.

EVE Online: Re-Incarna.

Featuring four new outfits, only available in the NeX Store, optional emote abilities, purchasable through the NeX Store, Fully sculptable and trimmable hair, for the first time in MMO History, players will be able to have their capsuleers train in a whole new exciting range of skills.

- Cosmetology: A Varied degree of skills for character customization. Which will as an added perk apply bonuses to your character's attributes. Causing PvP corps to demand that their members opt to devote the full 75 Million Skillpoints that will be in cosmetology to their characters, due to the fact the passive attributes will be so gamebreaking to people who havent learned to cut hair like a boss.

The post above me just realised that they could come out with an actual ingame gambling system-like texas hold 'em poker thing. Oh how many trillions of ISK would be pissed away in that.

In 10 years Global warming hits hard, so most of the eve players are bisy stockpiling real life food rather than plex or isk so eve reaches record of 10k online tops on wekeends.Having 25vs25 is now considered a " large fleet fight".Most miners and industrial ppl are dead so pvpers now have to mine on their own and build their own modules and ships. The term carebear gets a whole new meaning. The end.

In 10 years time the last isolated vestiges of humanity will be slowly winking out of existence as the zombie apocalypse runs its course.

In a dark, long abandoned empty industrial unit the eve server bank chatters and beeps only to itself for as long as its power holds.

No wars are fought today, no sovereignty claimed, no damsels rescued. The once blazing trails of demigods fade and are forever lost against the stars.

In a time of both uniqueness and sadness there is true peace in New Eden. The galaxy itself endures as it was made to do, haunted by the ghosts of glories past, unable and unwilling to acknowledge its own frail mortality.
As server banks fail, whole swathes of once teeming space are forever lost, their very existence slowly unraveling and fading into the night.

For the first time in the history of eve, the logs genuinely show nothing.

It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
