What happened to the tengu?

Please excuse me if I've posted this in the wrong place, I wasn't sure if I should've put it here or in ships and mods!

Alright, so probably 2 months ago I buy a tengu in Jita and fit it out. Fun stuff. Probably cost me about 700m, with 500m going towards the tengu and subsystems. After playing with it for a bit, life got in the way and I stopped playing intensively for those 2 months, and I just came back to Eve a few days ago.

However, now I want to move on to a rattlesnake, so I've figured I'll sell my tengu.

Problem is, I did the math, and selling everything (modules, subsystems, hull) on my tengu comes to only 400m ISK.

So please, someone help me understand, what the hell happened? Is it my fault or just bad luck/timing? Will it get better? Is there anything I can do about it? Or am I just a dumbass who made some simple, avoidable mistake? All help will be appreciated.

Are you selling to buy orders?

I was considering values slightly lower than other sell orders, in order to have people buy my stuff first :3

Sell orders would be even less than the 400m I calculated, I'll do the maths real quickly.

EDIT: It'd be roughly 350m to sell everything to buy orders.

Tengu is getting "nerfed".

Just what I was afraid of... So should I just sell now? Or hold on and see if it gets better?

I put "nerfed" in "quotations" as it's really not a big deal. Personally, I'd try out some HAM tengu fits as a HAM tengu is going to be very viable in 3 days.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind. Maybe the value could go back up when people start buying tengus for their HAMability.

Thanks for your input and advice,

Love,

Isn't it specifically the Tengu's main weapon system, Heavy Missiles, which are being nerfed?

Its getting nerfed , but i think people are overeacting .

It can get better but dont count on old prices coming back ...

To be clear, heavy missiles are getting "rebalanced" in the December patch, not the hull itself. The hull will likely be "rebalanced" as well in due time.

If you are interested in learning about what changes are taking place specifically there is a thread about it somewhere with the official numbers (and lots of tears Big smile).

Ultimately, if you are just talking about one hull I wouldn't worry about timing; just sell it and go get your rattlesnake.

I'd avoid a rattlesnake right now given the AI changes and its impact on drones. In fact, given the choice between a tengu and a rattlesnake in 3 days I'd still pick the tengu. YMMV.

Not sure if I'd say it is the demand that is lowering the value, as the amount sold daily has remained fairly consistent over the last 6 months, but it is most likely the supply. People realized that you could sell each tengu for 40m-50m profit and you could sell hundreds a week easily. That isn't to say the margins are poor, they just aren't what they used to be.

I have been testing my rattlesnake and tengu on the test server, I prefer the rattelesnake over the tengu atm, mostly because thier is a bug with the npc targetting and you can prevent them attacking your drones.

But once that fixed think ham tengu will be the best option

if you did missions in the tengu, that tengu has made you some isk aswell, try make an estimated value on that income and add it to the loss - in this way your loss wont be that much.

So if you paid 700mill for the tengu and lets say it has earned you 300mill. You sell it for 500mill you will still have earned 100mill. I know its better to get a + on the hull and subs itself, but in this manner you wont feel that great a loss.

or do some more missions in it and get the earnings up.

Btw i tried a HAM tengu pre-patch and it was horrible, 24km range(individuals might get more range) versus a 118km on HML. On tengu range will still be sufficient, maybe 80km or so, dont know about the dmg though.

Y'all should just get a gila and stuff Ogre II's on it.

It's basically equivalent of flying an 800 dps gunboat, at 1 km/s with barely 300 dps tank, for the slim cost of 200mill :p

The drone hating AI is proximity controlled, so as long as you get in the face of a few rats, your drones are safe.

See, it wasn't a Tengu nerf. it was a faction pirate buff because we know they needed one. Jeez, none of the pirate faction ships are any good.
