Expect a lot of miners to cry.

Why would these be any better than actual battleships at ganking hulks? BSs are already cheap enough after insurance.

you can fit a BC in an orca, can't fit a BS in an orca

so yes, yes they are

And a helluva lot more costly.

Insurance covers a stupid amount of T1 ship costs. Honestly the price won't be crazy IMO.

any other uses for those things?

killing in one shot all t2 exumers, any t1 mining barge, orcas (might need 5 or 6 to alpha one), any hauler both t1 or t2

also useful in large numbers for killing sbu's, tcu's i-hubs, and pos towers & mods, and of course super caps.

Oh yes please Cool

As for the new BCs being the end of high sec transit... Chances are these new ships will not be doing a large amount more damage than current BCs. Instead the large guns will be more of a tradeoff, sacrificing the cap consumption and tracking advantages of the medium turrets in favor of higher alpha and longer ranges provided by the larger weapons.

CCP needs to be very careful with the introduction of these new ships. Battle Cruisers are probably the most widely used class of ship at the moment while also being very unbalanced tier to tier when compared to battleships and many other ship classes. What I worry about is that tier3s may outclass tier 2s in the same manner that tier 2s outclassed tier 1s. Lets hope CCP goes through the entire BC lineup when introducing these ships to ensure that all BCs retain niche role that is competitive in today's pvp environment

Lamest Devblog I have seen in quite some time .. has no content other than confirmation of a rumour. It is the sort of information that should have been a regular dev reply to a relevant thread, not a 'blog'.

Sincerely hope they realise what it will do to Eve to have BC speed/size BS damage/range ships running around at close 100% insurance return. Only way I can see it not breaking everything is if they are made into BC sized destroyers (loads of guns but laughable tanks) and even then its going to upset a crap-load of areas.

Can't say I'll ever have cause to fly one of these bad boys, but won't I be envious of those who do. Heh.

Looking forward to seeing the other hulls.

They'll make life interesting.

Pos's in C1 wormholes will need better defenses than they've been getting away with.
May or may not prove to be the ganking ships of choice.
Will be countered in fleets by small ships that rip through them without getting hit. When you combine this with the super cap nerfs, it's looking like a renaissance for smaller ships. Could destroyers find a role tearing these new BCs up? Assault frigates?

Relax. Make sure you have your towel, and don't panic.

Now THAT is a damned nice ship Shocked

Me wants, badly.

I expect the Amarr one should be based on one of the Unnamed, Mentor, or Oblivion.

It seems that none of the winning or runner up designs captured the Caldari design aesthetic.

But there were a few that looked good. Assuming, of course that they went back to deviant art at all.

What do the Caldari get? Cruise missiles on a BC?

No, more like Torps on a BC. Have a few of those with Javelin Torps and a TP or two per boat and see how it makes you feel.

Agreedo. BCs are already overpowered especially with the ridiculously small post-insurance loss

Of course, since three battleships per race and black ops battleships just simply aren't enough!

The problem is, you add another battleship and nothing really changes... at best teh paradigm shifts and a new type of BS is seen more often on the field.

However, with a new BC that wields BS guns, there are definite disturbances in the force. Smaller ships that had little to no role before may find roles now as ships that can kill these BS's without getting shot by them. Larger ships have something to fear. Pos's in C1 wormholes suddenly need to beef up thier defenses.

There's a notable shift favoring smaller ships happening in Eve. It's getting interesting.

It won't be "iwin," because large turrets and a paper-thin tank leave it as easy prey for fleets of HACs and small stuff.

In fact, this is all quite an awesome balance system, the way I see it:

Fleets of super ganky BC's will kill caps and supercaps due to being fast and hard to hit, while dealing out BS-style DPS.

Said fleets of super ganky BC's will be killed by smaller ships such as HACs.

HACs will be taken down easily by fleets of tier 2 BC's such as Drakes.

Drakes will be taken down easily by fleets of hard-hitting battleships.

Hard-hitting battleships will be taken down easily by fleets of caps and supercaps.

And thus the cycle continues. It'd be great if it actually works that smoothly.

That's sort of what everything else in this expansion is geared towards?

e,g, cap balancing, new font, FW fixes...
