so the tornado is a battlecruiser with large guns, what's going to be the role of this unholy dps boat? is it going to recieve tracking bonuses and be able to hit anything, range bonuses making it a sniper, or will it have a damage/ROF bonus making it a big ship killer?
"but what they lack in the tanking department the right pilot should be able to somewhat make up for with speed and distance management." didnt really answer my question well enough.

I'm gonna go with, I don't know. None of us have any idea. Hopefully, it's used as a battleship nuker, since I'd rather not see it become anti cruiser or frigate.

Large weapon can hit Battlecruisers, Battlecruisers can catch other Battlecruisers.

1 Drake 126072
2 Hurricane 75831

^^^ It is designed to fix this.

With large guns it's not definitely an anti-cruiser/frig......

In the last thirty days that is now many mails involving a Drake and a Hurricane were posted on EVEkill.com. The 1 and 2 is because more were posted with these 2 ships then any other.

1 Drake 126072
2 Hurricane 75831
3 Abaddon 41745
4 Maelstrom 23346
5 Tempest 21232
6 Armageddon 19219
7 Scimitar 15740
8 Dramiel 13458
9 Tengu 11936
10 Cynabal 11497

They have a very large margin of win.

The New Battlecruisers seem designed to fight them.

They'll also give smaller ships some really sexy killmails.

imagine a hurricane whit 6 1200 artys fitted and not beeing able to fitt extenders or plates and you kinda get the basic design of it. Not really needed but it will please the community, and ccp loves the community..

If CCP plans on maintaining the concepts of frigates/cruisers/battlecruisers/battleships, then all ships should be overhauled.
Everyone who plays this game already knows these conceptual terms apply to 20th century naval ships.

So why not actually form the ships up as such.

Frigates: They are what they are. But lower grid so they can't fit the largest of the "small class" weapons
Destroyers: Marginally larger sigs/hulls, with grid capable of fitting the largest of the "small class" weapons.
Cruisers: As is, but only enough grid to fit the smaller of the "medium class weapons".
Heavy Cruiser: Pretty much the current Eve BC. Better tank than cruisers, but maybe slightly slower speed , with grid capable of fitting the largest of the "medium class" weapons.
Battlecruisers: Battleship class weaponry on a battleship class sig, but Heavy/Cruiser class tank.
Battleships: As is.

That leaves all the T2 variants hanging. Not entirely sure what to do with them.

But if Eve is creating this new hybrid of BC and BS, then it is a new class of ship in the game, not a the Eve version of a battlecruiser. This is what the traditional real-world view of a battlecruiser was.

its going to be the new alpha ship.

Fleets of Tornadoes roaming around will be seen shortly.

This is the day the hurricane/Tempest died.

The gallente and amarr are going to be pretty ****** due to gallente not having any range and amarr not having any speed which is apparently how you are meant to balance the lack of tank.

Many large fleet battles have a lot of battleships, so perhaps its role is provide a leg in (aka role) for smaller hulls, not that BC's didn't deal decent dps already.

You seem to be mistaken, a tornado is not a ship with guns, it is a violent, dangerous, rotating column of air that is in contact with both the surface of the earth and a cumulonimbus cloud or, in rare cases, the base of a cumulus cloud. They are often referred to as a twister or a cyclone, although the word cyclone is used in meteorology in a wider sense, to name any closed low pressure circulation. Tornadoes come in many shapes and sizes, but are typically in the form of a visible condensation funnel, whose narrow end touches the earth and is often encircled by a cloud of debris and dust. Most tornadoes have wind speeds less than 110 miles per hour (177 km/h), are approximately 250 feet (80 m) across, and travel a few miles (several kilometers) before dissipating. The most extreme tornadoes can attain wind speeds of more than 300 mph (480 km/h), stretch more than two miles (3 km) across, and stay on the ground for dozens of miles (more than 100 km).
