Mining in Sansha-Occupied Systems

So, my favourite semi-afk mining systems have been occupied by the Sansha, and a full-on incursion is under way. What I can't seem to determine is whether it's safe to mine in belts in these systems whilst they're around. Will the Sansha attack me just for mining, or are they restricted to battlegrounds?

There are Sansha rats in the belts (replacing the normal belt rats). I took a Myrmidon into a belt this morning in an incursion system. Killed 4 rats, lost 2 drones, decided to get out incase any of the rats had scrams.

As for mining in an incursion system, see the results from someone (admittedly a very new player) that tried it

Bummer. Thanks for the reply, though. From what I've read, the Sansha aren't necessarily going to be easy to escape from if they turn up in my belt, so I guess I'll just have to log with a different toon and go join the shooting for now!

That thread led to an interesting watch on YouTube!

If you can get a decent fleet together the payout can be quite good.

Good advice as getting into another's incursion fleet unless you're in a logi is almost impossible..
And whilst it's possible to solo kill anything in the scout system complex the payout is just not worth it.. and belt rats don't pay anything at all.

Why are people so reluctant to let you into their fleet? It's not as if the payouts are shared.

They are in a way. The more people in fleet, the lower the payout per person (check the Incursion->Encounters tab in your journal for details). If you are flying a lower-DPS ship than the others, you're slowing them down (if you're instead of another person) or potentially reducing payout (if you're there as well as another)

One of my corpies tried mining in an incursion system. 2 belt rats popped his barge before he could realize what was going on. The rats on his loss mail were Renyn Meten. These have almost 200 dps and web. We had a discussion that night about incursions as most of the folks had no clue what that means.

THAT plus Locator Agents can cause one to have an extrememly bad mining day. Careful what you post.

In high sec the Sansha do not camp gates, so you can just fly out of the constellation to mine.

Here is a tip: Because no one is mining the roids are getting big and fat. Once the incursion is cleared the mining is quite good.

I recently moved my alts to a new system to mine in and naturally didn't find out until it happened that incursions do happen in the constellation.

I asked around corp/alliance and a few other places and couldn't get a descent answer so I decided to test it myself.

Warped in and was met with 3 rats. Within less then 20 seconds i was scrammed and brought down to 21% hull in a hurricane (t2 + faction fitted) and did a whole 9% damage to 1 rats shield.

So unless you're going to be keeping a very careful watch and keeping everyone aligned (and maybe ships to swap into in an Orca) you would be better off finding a new temp spot to mine at.

I wouldn't bother to mine during a Sansha Incursion. Your resistances get nerfed, and Sansha have the better ai so drones and such take a beating.

I once podded myself by blowing a huge fart.

A month or two ago, I had to stop doing mining missions for some days, because there was an incursion in my constellation. I've got everything trained to 5, flying a pimped Mackinaw, but the belt rats ate my drones for breakfast without so much as a burp, so I decided to go dock and wait it out.

Granted, it was a low'ish sec system, 0.5 or 0.6. Mining missions may still be doable in a 1.0 or 0.9 system. I wouldn't want to try, though. It's too much trouble. Better to wait it out, or re-locate if the anti-Incursion pilots are slow about dealing with the issue.

I showed up in an "all Lvl V" DRAKE in an asteroid belt, and after shooting the rat that had scrambled me, I came away with maybe 3% structure left. The Drake literally almost popped.

You cannot mine belts during Incursion except with an inefficient Battleship.
