DISCLAIMER: This is not a insta-grad, 'how do I fly a Titan in 14 days' question. More just intellectual curiosity after scanning a 'how do I fly a Titan in 14 days' thread. I'm have quite fun in my in destroyers & frigs (especially the cloaky ones), thank you.

So, from what I've read, once you board you're shining new awe-inspiring-mega-death-monster... you're kind of stuck there. I've heard the term '80bil coffin'. Besides the obvious 'how do you use the restroom' question, how do you ...

Use the market for ship fitting/upgrades? I can see w/ the remote market skill(s) (can't recall exact name) would let you purchase (I think), then have corp-mate or alt deliver it how?

You want to train a new skill (you can't possibly have at least 1 in everything, can you? they add new ones) how do you acquire the skillbook?

Ok, I think my question really is 'how do you get your stuff as you can't dock'? There must be some mechanics I haven't figured out/been introduced to. Or I'm need of a good *facepalm*

TIA

Titans can still interact with fitting services on other ships, POS hangers etc. Titans also have massive corp and ship hangers of their own which other people can place things into.

Complete noob question here, op just made me think of it. Once you're in your Titan, can you not leave it unless it is destroyed?

Edit: ninja'd

I wear my goggles at night.

Ok. I'll take a facepalm for that, but isn't that itself risky? Perhaps I'm thinking to much. Thanks again.

No you can certainly eject from it just like any other ship.

You can leave it floating in a POS shield like this but it is then susceptible to spys using the POS password to bump it out of the shield and destroyed.

Most Titan pilots have an alt holder toon. Someone who can sit in the Titan if he wants to use the character elsewhere.
And yes you can eject and leave it floating in a POS, but that's not a great idea unless you are the only person in your corp....Big smile

I am not, nor will I ever be...Nicky Yo.... The question you should ask is.....When will they release the NICKY!

Oh you could store it in the capital ship maintenance array.

Most titan pilots are alts. To be logged on as needed. The main account does any legwork the titanic alt needs. Need fuel. It gets delivered. Need fitting and a carrier will likely be used if POS cannot.

People still use Titans for something other than glorified jump bridges?

You can eject from them, but a ship without a pilot can be boarded by anyone with the skills to fly the ship. And a titan is horribly expensive; losing one in a silly way like that would be a major embarrassment.

Hence the holder alts. Or, you train an alt to fly a specific titan (with good support and all the skills you need for it), and nothing else.

You can quit EVE for 6 months. It will default anything logged out in space to the station you have your medical clone at. As I understand it, you can't leave the titan, even in the station but it removes you from space. Called "parking" a titan. Knowing that, you are smart to train the parking alt account with the extreme minimum to get in the titan. When your main is tired of being a Jump bridge service, you put the alt in the titan and cancel the account. It's a mickey mouse way of doing things but it beats trying to convince CCP to just let people dock the damn things.

If you own a supercarrier or titan, you have other characters to acquire stuff as you need it. However, once you're in one of those ships, you're not going to find yourself training anything not relevant to flying a titan, and you damn well better have all of the necessary skills at some acceptable level before even hopping into an 70bn hull. A character in a titan should never be your main, and if it is, you should have an alt that can do anything you may want to do that doesn't involve your titan. And once you have Titan V, DDO V, gunnery skills and supports at V, you should probably train another character on that account instead of training irrelevant nonsense on your titan. It's what I intend to do with my Nyx alt once it's trained up for an Erebus.

Once you get your main a titan what you do is have a holding toon trained up for that specific titan, that way your main can still bounce around in other ships.

Tip. dont tell the people even in your corp or alliance who your holding toon is.
