Im looking at doing exploration in low sec to start actually getting an ingame income and i was looking for advice. I can fly every amarr Hull and all the tech 1 hulls plus tech 2 frigs of all other races and im hoping you guys may be able to help me by pointing me in the direction of a good exploration ship and fit.

I was thinking legion but it seems from other posts thats not such a good decision (CCP please buff the legion, its the best looking ship in game and utterly useless at everything)

Thanks guys

cloaky legion, do 4,5,6/10 plexes

plexes are about the only profitable method of exploration in low outside of FW sites (which isnt really much exploration)

Legion isn't useless, its an awesome ship for exploration P I can only recommend it Cool
Subs (for example, I'm sure others will have different ideas too): Nanobot Injector + Emergent Locus Analyzer (if you dont want to do scanning on one ship, use Dissolution Sequencer instead) + Capacitor Regeneration Matrix + Covert Reconfiguration + Chassis Optimization, aaand I think you are good to go :)

HAM legion, it's getting buffed on the 4th by the change to missile resulting in the skill Guided missile precision applying to all missiles now

Depends. If you are going far and wide than the above suggestions might be the way to go. I find it better to either scan everything down in a helios in the first pass and come back with some punch later. Either that or just send out an alt scanner to do all the exploration and use your main for the pew pew. That's what I would generally do. A good scanning set up is a waste of potential combat slots, and scanning ships are relatively cheap. I only go out about 6 jumps from my lowsec station when doing exploration though... and I've kind of gotten out of the biz. Could be the T3 site explorers have refined the art more than I... so take what I say w/ a grain of salt.

Pilgrim might do well in a kiting with drones role in combat sites.

Would be an easy training option for you.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I actually went out and bought a pilgrim which is a ship I already loved flying, nice to find a good use for it. Based on some of your suggestions I'll probably grab myself a legion as well and ham fit it for the coming expansion, time for me to head out and hopefully start making some isk to fund this filthy PvP habit
