I'd say Shiva, RMR is 2nd no argument though.

EVE online is the fishermans friend of MMO's. If it's too hard you are too weak.

The most significant is certainly Incarna ...

I came from SWG to EVE, so I've seen magnificent things implode once before, so I recognize the when companies are doing really bad things. And I don’t think any company has the humility and foresight to reverse the trend until now. CCP was on that same course … and now they seem to have wizened up.

Let’s hope they keep it up.

Apocrypha:

  • Adventuring/exploration
  • Extra variety in the sec world hi/low/null
  • WHs supporting small to large corps to be living in
  • T3 ships
  • New PvE content
  • New complex industry content: T3s

Odyssey: Repacking in POS hangars for modules +1,  but please for other stuff too, especially containers. Make containers openable in POS hangars.

Exodus ranks up there close to the top, for sure.

I remember when it was deployed in November 2004. It was awesome, and brought with it a whole crap load of features that people had been wanting for a whole year.

The server PCU was still tiny compared to what it is today, but in the same respect it had a massive impact on the game, and paved the way for so many of the features that were released over the next few years.

Trinity was also awesome, because dammmmnn did things get shiny. I did have to SLI my machine, just because I could, but yeah, also one of my favorites.

As a pirate at heart though, my favorite expansion overall is going to be Retribution. A total re-hash of the flagging system and bounty system has been needed for so long, and now it's coming Cool

Exodus - the last expansion that added new gameplay that was actually new instead of old game play under a new name _and_ didn't introduce game play that sucked or was uneveish like timer based PvP, JCs, etc.

I'd have to go with Trinity. The game looked soooo much better after that expansion. It did have the boot.ini issue for some, and that's when CCP really ramped up their QA dept. Trinity was also around the time they started dumping more money into server infrastructure.

I like to mention the new character creator as something I've had waaaaaayyy too much fun with.. I still get lost in it all the time!

The other day I was going to help CCP Paradox with testing something and after 10 minutes he asked me if I was logging in yet, then I had just gotten carried away creating a nice character to make this test with (super important)

Are people intentionally confusing what features came with what expansions in here?

To me, Dominion has been the most influential expansion. The autocannon changes and faction ship changes changed the subcap field completely.

The buffed supercarriers and titans became a goal that pretty much every nullsec player aspired to, rather than expensive toys that scaled badly.

The sov mechanic changes destroyed several major alliances and completely changed the PVE dynamic in sov space.

Dominion truly did have far-reaching effects.

Trinity for me. It was huge. New graphics plus five new ship types added (ewar, heavy dictors, black ops, marauders and jump freighters?), plus a bunch of other stuff. Then again, if I remember right, it's also the same patch that introduced the drone bandwidth and that's the point where drone users started to get treated as red-headed stepchildren. So, it was not roses.

For potential, an honorary mention goes to Incarna. But it was bungled, so it's not my first choice. Definitely had the most potential though, as an expansion, after Trinity.

Other, more recent expansions? Nice, but not for everyone. Inferno did nothing for someone not at all interested in FW. Retribution won't do a thing for someone living in a WH (except some minor stuff). And so on. Trinity, by comparison, affected everyone, in every facet of the game, and Incarna had the potential to do the same.

My favorite expansion was my first expansion, Apocrypha. Nothing since it has brought me the same level of excitement nor the same sense of new content. Heck in comparison a good number of expansions have felt like glorified patches.

I wonder will I see it's like again? Most likely not. Straight

Trinity and Apocrypha.

Trinity for the new graphic engine, I remember the visual impact was awesome
Apocrypha for the brand new unknow feeling.

Also Trinity, on a first release had a nice side feauture: during the isntallation it deleted the boot.ini file so people wasn't able to reboot their PC again. I survived cause i think I was at work so couldnt isntall it immediaytly, but reading EvE forums in those hours was very fun :)
