Okay weird issue to report here, looking for some feedback.

While playing eve, my screen will randomly go blank. By blank I mean the monitor going into stand by as if it is not receiving a signal from the graphics card to stay on.

Weirder still, I can still hear game sounds and people talking. My computer is not frozen, I'm not stuck in a sound loop. My monitor is simply blank and shuts down into standby mode.

The computer requires a reboot to get back to normal.

I know my card is ancient, but this does not happen with any other game.

Drivers are up to date. From what I've looked up, the last ones that were released was in 2011.

For obvious reasons, this makes travelling through low sec a HUGE gamble.

Heat. The destroyer and Enemy of electronics.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be the problem.

Staring at my desktop my video card is at 41 degrees C.

While running eve this jumps up to about 48 degrees C.

That seems normal.

I'm nearing the end of my trial.

I'm not going to sub for a game that randomly decides to shut down the signal from my graphics card.

I really want to enjoy eve, any help would be appreciated.

I use a HD4650

Whilst i havent experienced your exact problem, I do have to turn off HDR and keep most settings towards the low-medium end of the settings scales.

my maximum resolution is limited to 1024x768 also.

might be related, might not, but is also this thread on hd 4000 series issue

Try killing the Catalyst Control Center processes. I have a 4650 in my laptop and there is a CCC service that hangs causing that issue for me. It only happens in Eve too. I think the profile is jacked up.
