No reason high sec can't mean perfect safety.

Why shouldn't people be allowed to play EVE without having to deal with some no-life d-bags ******* with them who are too cowardly to "pvp" in low or null?


EVE is a sandbox game that should encompass as many playstyles as possible. There is no good reason that douchebag activity can't be restricted to low and null.

I know a lot of people are afraid to lose their skilless/riskless"pvp" that hardly amounts to more than shooting fish in a barrel and are throwing up their hands about crimewatch, but this is exactly what this game needs. Less abusable mechanics and less cowards able to mess with others while under the protection of concord.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to play EVE without the cowardly douche bags.

Do you understand the hypocrisy of making a statement like that when you're basically saying you want gankers, bumpers, etc to not be allowed to do what they do in high sec?

Oh, and you got a critical detail wrong: EVE is a multiplayer sandbox game. This doesn't mean you can do everything you want — it means everyone can do what they want, including things that you don't want them to do (to you). So by that fact alone, there is a perfectly good reason why highsec can't mean perfect safety: because then it would no longer be a sandbox (or at most a much reduced one).

…and then, of course, there are all the usual things that prove you wrong, such as the PvP-centric nature of the game and its interdependence between war and industry through a player-run market — a fundamental design that would break if there was complete safety.

if everyone is supposed to be able to do what they want, then I should be able to spend my entire EVE existence in high sec without having to worry about some no-life d-bags screwing with me because they can. There are other sections of space where screwing with people is allowed.

Except it absolutely is the removal of content. It means certain playstyles and activities in highsec no longer exist. They've been removed.

Why shouldn't there be a part of the game that is entirely safe? Because it would literally destroy the game. Learn how the economy in eve works, plz.

And again, sandbox = everyone can do what they want, including annoy you. You're playing the wrong game, mate.

No, that's exactly what it means if they're able to do what they want. If you don't want them to do that, you can choose to keep them from doing it because the sandbox fully allows that. What you can't do is remove it as a gameplay option.

Or, to use the old Malcanisism: “sandbox” does not mean you can excel at everything you want to attempt — it means you can attempt everything you want to excel at. I.e. if you want to try to play without people screwing with you, you can do that just fine. There's just no guarantee (beyond your own ingenuity and perseverance) to guarantee that you will succeed.
