I have had 5 officers and every single time i was in a pvp ship not ratting. All were in npc home regions (where they can spawn in any system)

An ISD once mentioned that the number of belts in the system is a factor, the more the higher the chance for spawning...

And the ISD knows this how?
I really wouldn't consider that information any more reliable than any other random EVE player.

Don't chain.

Why not?

Wish the trolls would hang themselves instead of filling this thread full of bs.

Last I heard chaining no longer works, as CCP changed the spawn mechanics. You no longer get a spawn of the same type.

Chaining is busted. Sometimes you do kill 3 BS rats and come back to 3 new BS rats, but you are just as likely now to come back and find 1 BS or a couple cruiser rats, or the frigs warped off and you got a whole new spawn.

The Farming article on the wiki, gives some in formation on how to get special spawns, the Belt rat spawns and Rat also has some useful information.

Even if you do everything the right way, you chances of getting a officer spawn is really small.

"You could expect to run into officer spawn for every 20 to 40 faction spawns you find. Thus chance for officer is about one in 400 to 2000 cleared spawns, at least in good 0.0 space."

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

Find a quiet system with a ton of belts, and start clearing belts. Everything must die in every belt and continue going down the list until you see an officer.

Personally, I would try to get into a low-sec or nullsec system to do it.

EDIT: Just keep doing it. When it happens you will be thankful you persevered. Now, the crappy part is that if someone jumps into the system, warps to a random belt and kills the officer. So finding a quiet system is far more important than you think.

Well it would be right if he meant there is more chance of an officer in a system with more belts as there are more spawns that could possibly be officers. It makes no difference to the chance of a particular spawn being an officer though.

Will someone tell me all the ways to increase my chances of getting some kind of faction or officer drop ratting in belts?

I have literally ratted for 12 hours straight today with dual ratting 1000dps machs tearing thru the belts and the best I've found was two hauler drops. I used the chaining method too. I was in a -.9 nullsec space too.

There have got to be other ways to gain a better chance of getting an officer drop. I use to rat extremely often in the past and I still have never seen a single faction or officer drop in a belt ever in my life.

Also note I'm the ONLY person in the system this whole 12 hour period.

What are you doing exactly? Most times you leave leave the smaller ships taking out the BS and if you come into a belt that spans no BS you only clear it then. So if it has a BS you take it out leave the rest and if it spawns with no BS you clear it. Still with this method those drops are rare, hauler drops are nice though. Worse part is somone comes in and jacks up your method.

Good luck

Moar accounts spam entire systems in null space region with yout alts, call alts like cam1 cam 2 cam3 etc, use them like camera with cloak, also you may buy multiple monitors to better view Lol

I know guy who got two oficer long time ago, in two day period with total 12bil isk loot... what a lucker.

Also has anyone ever seen a faction or officer drop in a sanctum or haven?

Don't think you can get officers in sanctums or anons (not 100% mind on this) but yes I have seen faction rats in havens and sanctums.

New officers are very tanky now, the earlier ones I could kill quite easily solo but I usually have to get my alt/carrier involved to kill them. If you want to increase the chances of a Officer don't chain the belts but kill every rat at every belt.

Yes it does. In fact, it's far more likely to get one that way than trawling through belts. Twisted

I am not 100% certain how it works but what I have herd is since it percentager based that the more people you have ratting in the region the better your chance of getting a drop.

Right lines but as it is chance based the more rats killed will just increase the chances of an officer. Not to do with the amount of people per say just the amount of kills.

More kills = more chances but I think sometimes it is just pure luck.

Had one chap who had been ratting all day, I'd just logged in and flew to a random belt and suprise suprise first belt first rat was an officer. Result! The other chap wasn't too pleased I can tell you.

Farming 6's in gurista space will net you more than officer drops ever will.

To be honest I'm unsure I tried with a pimped Tengu and I think I would have managed but it would have taken me around 20mins to kill him, I jumped my carrier on him and he died fairly quickly, something that does 1000dps or over I'd imagine
