I gues i have to Risk and try more than wait around until someone starts something i can tag along. I gues i will return to mission runing and exploration instead of doing nothing while my alt mines and i wait for my friends to Come online. And i definetly keep looking for teouble in my frigate :))

There is no point in skill point training where you magically become "useful" in PVP. From day 1, you should be able to fit up a warp disruptor, or act as a scout.

Find a new player friendly PVP corp... there are lots of them out there, and go PVP.

Waiting until you get to some magical skill points is a waste of play time.

So i fitet up a Frigate and roam around low sec looking for trouble but i cant find anybody or i get 1 shot killed. While i keep practicing that solo PvP and am always on the wait for a corp fleet to tag along. I am wondering what can i do else till i skill up?
Now ! I know there are plenty of things i COULD do i want to know what did you all do at this point ?

Oh in case you are wondering i got a alt that mines and refines for
My combat alt :)

If u want to have some fun, join RvB.
If you like to run around and KEEL things, it may be best choice for you.
Also its a great place to get early PVP experience.

I can flipped people in my T1-fit arbitrator and then wardecced people who cried with my 1-man corp and killed them some more with my T1-fit arbitrator. It was really fun and I learned a lot about hunting and aggression mechanics.

This was in 2009.

But you can't do this anymore!

  • NOONE JETCAN MINES
  • WARDEC COSTS 50MIL AND YOU GET DEC-SHIELDED ANYWAY
  • THERE ARE SO FEW NEW PLAYERS AND SO MANY ALTS
  • EVERYONE IS FLYING FACTION BS AND T3 AND SHITFITS ARE THE EXCEPTION RATHER THAN THE NORM
  • RISK-AVERSE MENTALITY HAS INCREASED TENFOLD
  • PEOPLE HAVE SO MUCH ISK THAT LOSSES DONT EVEN HURT

  • True. Because of the can flippers. Proof that if you make a game mechanic that is easy to use to mess with people, people won't do the activity that makes them easy victims, because, in general, they do not enjoy being messed with. Take notice all you "get rid of local" and "move L4s to low sec" people.

Besides, anyone that wants to mine can find a player run corp with an orca. You not only keep your ore safe, you get a huge boost in yield and profitability.

  • THERE ARE SO FEW NEW PLAYERS AND SO MANY ALTS
  • Yep. I tried to create a new player training corp, and I found that about 90% of the "new players" are actually alts.

    *]RISK-AVERSE MENTALITY HAS INCREASED TENFOLD
  • PEOPLE HAVE SO MUCH ISK THAT LOSSES DONT EVEN HURT

  • The product of kill board stats. It isn't that I don't want to lose a few million ISK for getting a ship blown up. It is that I do not want to show up on the kill boards as a victim. If that happens too often, then people start coming looking for you, and your corp, to war dec you in hopes of getting some easy kill themselves.

The kill boards drive PVPers to look for victims, but it also leads non-PVPers to avoid PVP all together for fear of being a kill board victim.

I do that when I CBF scanning down sites to do... Still sometimes get a bit of isk for little effort and not much risk pending on where you are and what sites you are doing. Also allows you to chat and internet surf while doing it pending on what ship you are using.

Play EvE how you want to play it and do not let others dictate how you play. Evolve your playstyle to protect yourself from others! Even in "PVE", "PVP" is there, lurking in the shadows.

Try highsec exploration! It is time consuming and can lead to great rewards! Also, it teaches you skills that are required of you later on when you have more sp. A battle cruiser would be fine if you have the skills to scan, which shouldnt take long.

You want some fights you have the possibility of winning? Come down to FW low-sec. Don't necessarily have to join Faction Warfare (although I would highly advise it, both for the funnest pew pew in New Eden and the isk.) But you can just come as a non FW member, and mess with FW people running plexes. You will find lots of solo destroyers in the minor plexes, that you can 1v1. People are a lot less apt to warp away than they were in the gunless frig days.

Keep only shooting red crosses and you may find yourself getting bored of EVE rather quick. Some people find it fun, but most people find PvE in EVE dreadfully dull. The fact that all these missions/complexes have been done 10,000's times and are totally documented with step by step directions makes missions even more boring.

LHA Tarawa I was going to respond to you in full, but I am trying really really hard to be less confrontational on the internets. You make it very hard for me sir. But I will say this, your lack of understanding is astounding.

At 2.5mil you should be able to easily T2 fit your fave Dessie and get into FW.

Join. Kill (or die). Buy new ship & fit. Rinse, repeat.

I'm more geared to indy so I dunno if this'd help you out but generally between spates of working on increasing standings, generally via security missions, I do PI, make stuffs to sell, and do a lot of exploring. Exploration is very addictive imo - you can get set up for it pretty easily, fast on a newb, make use of your frigate skills and just generally have a ball.

    Happy hunting and good luck!

Thats what i did last night hanging with my fleet 3 hours behind a Titan waiting. Nothing happend but still it was more fun than running lvl 3s all night making minor isk. Actually it was really fun being with so many people geting organized and wait, even if we at last dident have to act.

I am doing Highsec Explorations since the first skills i learnd in eve where scaning/salvaging/hacking/analyzing. When i learn to fly a Tengu i will go Explore low sec 0.0 and WH. I also enjoy just roaming araound looking for a fight. But the Best is when i fly fleet with Corp and Aliance.
My Goal definatly is not Solo play.
Also i am happy with my Corp.

Eve is an MMO, in pvp you bring friends.
if you have no friends your just going to die, a lot.

There is solo PVP, you just have to replace "friends" with "alts". It's very doable. Also alts can't betray you.

I mostly play other games while training. Especially if the skill is a level V and takes 3+ weeks. Just too soul-crushing. Even 1-week skills are sometimes too much to wait for.

This, to me, is actually a huge problem as it has a high "avalanche potential".

Imagine a game with 500k characters. But only 100k players. That is, each player has 5 alts.If 1 player quits the game, for whatever reason that may even be totally unrelated to the game itself, this costs the game 5 characters. In EVE's case, it costs the game 5 accounts.

Now, imagine EVE releases a "bad expansion", such as Incarna. And a few thousand people quit? That could easily mean a five-digit number of subscriptions lost. That's the 14-17% subscription loss we saw in Incarna (don't remember the official figure). It wasn't 17% of players quitting, the percentage was much lower than that, but the amount of alts bloomed that loss into a much larger subscription loss.

That's the avalanche effect I'm talking about. When every player has 5-8 alt accounts, it leads to a much less stable system than games with 1 account per person. I mean, look at current what, 450k subs? How many of those are just dummy accounts being trained to be sold at the Character Bazaar? They don't really "exist" in the normal sense of the word. They log in for a minute to queue up the skills and log off again.

The high number of alts also means there's a very low number of new people coming in. Which is very, very bad. And a shiny new tutorial is not going to cut it - the game mechanics need to be more fun and immersive and engaging. But that's a story for another time, sorry for the derail.
