The Native Americans are thankful your not either.

And to answer your q...

It's called Mourning Day or National Day of Mourning pending where you live. It's the same as whites, blacks, yellows, pinks, purple pok-a-dotted and everybody else. It's a big meal with family and football. There is no reenactment of meeting Pilgrims and burying fish in the sand to grow corn.

Hey, it was the mythical Native Americans Squanto and Samoset who saved the Puritans butts, so that their could even be a first Thanksgiving. The guys were starving, and S. and/or S. showed them how to plant a fish in with their seeds for fertilizer. Probably a bad call on S. and S.'s part. Smile

(By the way, Native Americans tend to be some the most patriotic Americans around. Lots of military veterans on the rez, American flags embroidered on pow-wow dance costumes, etc.).

Here in South Dakota we do not have Columbus day, we have Native American Day.

edit: I've also spent a thanksgiving with my college friend on the reservation. I had a great time and one of my best thanksgivings yet.
