Will someone tell me all the ways to increase my chances of getting some kind of faction or officer drop ratting in belts?

I have literally ratted for 12 hours straight today with dual ratting 1000dps machs tearing thru the belts and the best I've found was two hauler drops. I used the chaining method too. I was in a -.9 nullsec space too.

There have got to be other ways to gain a better chance of getting an officer drop. I use to rat extremely often in the past and I still have never seen a single faction or officer drop in a belt ever in my life.

Also note I'm the ONLY person in the system this whole 12 hour period.

the way i used to do it was... wake up right around downtime.. then log in an alt in a fast warp inty... and literally when the server came up go from system to system scouring for officer rats...

at some point you will run into one and at that point all you have to do is bring in the big ship and kill it...

the chaining method is not good for officer rats as much as its good for isk/tick... if you want officer rats and are determined not to move around then you have to kill everything... as its a chance based system if that officer rat will appear... it will takes days in that approach...

edit:
you should try to scan out sites... there are more high level complexes in 0.0 then there are officer rats... and usually if you have an alt can walk out with 1 billion isk + from a days work...

I've been ratting for a year and I've never gotten one.

Escalations are what you want when running anoms (sanctums will murder shield gank machs, no clue about havens, just do forsaken hubs)

i was always partial to duel thanny in ring sanctums... back when i was in sov null sec...

though's were lucrative times...

They usually drop tags and ammo and that's about it.

sigh yes... you have to be fast... if he jumps out before you get there with the big ship then yeah... lather rinse repeat... as he is out there somewhere... though i wonder if i had tried to used a cyno with a thanny it might have been more effective (though dangerous cuss carrier in a belt = you want to get ganked)...

though tbh the last time i did get an officer rat was before they boosted officers to make them harder to kill... so now you will probs need a few alts in big ships to get it done...

The best faction drops are the ones that drop tags and ammo

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

As a pet you should realize that the Bee's don't allow you officer drops. Shocked

Yeah, as I said earlier in the thread it took a while to take down the last officer spawn I had. It was a Thon, and we had to use 3 Tengus on it, one of which was HAM fit.

The funny thing is, that was legitimate advice. Chaining does not create new spawns.

dont officer spawns nuet and stuff like that now too?

i dunno i like it how rare they actually are... though for the new drone officer spawns i wonder which region would be considered to be the drone home region...

i kinda wanna do something crazy like put on officer drone damage mods and tracking mods on a sentry thanny and do sanctums again...

Most of the people hunting officer spawns aren't ratting. They are bouncing from belt to belt in something relatively fast with a cyno so they can drop carriers on it.

Also the spawnrate is increased the better the truesec is. So there you go.

I haven't seen an officer spawn since I first started playing, although I haven't actually done any ratting (except for horrid sec grinds) for about 2 years.

If you aren't belt bouncing and doing it fast in good truesec you are very unlikely to. If you want to see one ask Boat for his technique, that's how he used to fund himself.

Not that I'm advocating talking to boat.

I've never had the pleasure of meeting Boat. He never showed up to the fleets he was supposed to run.

I actually was pretty lucky with officer spawns.

Had 3 of them. 1 in stain, 1 in venal and one in insmother.

What i can say about officer spawns is that there extremely rare. These 3 where pure luck and all after 5 minutes of ratting or straight after downtime. Other days after 3 hours of ratting i got nothing.

There was this dude who tested some theories and he did get them but noone knows exactly how and where they appear.

Theorie is that they spawn only in -0.8 and lower systems and even more in npc space close the home of the agent with the same name. Yes all officers have agents with the same name.

Chaining lowers the chance of a rare spawn.

Rat in a NPC home region - e.g. if you are looking for a Sansha officer rat in Stain, not Providence or Catch.

Allegedly there also is a higher chance to encounter an officer near his home station (all officers are mission agents for their respective faction).

And remember that you probably won't be able to solo an officer.

edit: bah, BrutalButFair made the same post 10 minutes ago Straight
