What ship for me?

Some of the eagle eyed ones of you on here may notice I recently uploaded a Rokh fit to Battleclinic... To be met by abuse, and I quote 'Poor Rokh'.

After sitting and browsing my fitting tool, I just can't seem to find the ship that's right for me, all I want is something that I can PvP in Null Sec primarily, and MAYBE the odd bit of PvE. The major skills (Electronics, Mechanics etc...) are all at 4, and I cannot use any T2 guns (16 hours for T2 lazors, blah). So I just want to know, what do you guys think I should go for? It's all starting to seem pointless now, having constant abuse thrown at my new Rokh.

Rokh is a tricky ship.

But mainly, if you dont have the skills dont fly a Battleship.

Get a frig/dessie.

You don't start pvping in 0.0/low in a battleship.

Without knowing really anyting about your skills other then some are at 4, you can fly a rokh and you are 16 hours from t2 lasers (smalls i am assuming) Id suggest :

For solo : Caracal/Moa / Frigate
For small gang Naga / blackbird
For fleet whatever they ask for

Oh edit -

What part of the fitting that i posted previously would take the bulk of the time ti train, Im assuming its the large hybrids right? you can use meta 4 if thats what you can fit, what are the other things that you still need to train for this setup?

Ther's one thing i don't understand :

Rokh : Caldari Battleship Skill Bonus: 10% large hybrid optimal range per level and 5% shield resistance per level.

But you are training lasers, right ? So why not choosing a ship which has bonuses to lasers ?

What about the Maller for example ? http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Maller
Or the Omen : http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Omen
In fact it's hard to asnwer if you don't tell us which size of lasers you are about to T2...

Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Look at the recent highest rated fits for the ship you want to fly and use that if it suits your needs.

A) jsut because you messed up the rokh fit doesn't mean it's not for you, just that you have limited experience. don't let it dishearten you, it comes with time.

B) don't crosstrain until you have tech II tank / weapons for a single race, and the majority of support skills

C) if you CANNOT fit some of the tech II mods on the fits linked above, try using meta level (tech I named) mods in place of those. rigs can be put on a ship for you by a trusted friend or corpie. but please get tech II tank and weapons for the race you want to start with ASAP (really, for guns, tech I large turrets are OK, but tech II is EXCELLENT)

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

If you are new I would use one of the PODLA drake setups, it has the speed and webs to get moving and swat away tackle frigs pretty easy and you can use all of your cap for your prop mod.

Ruptures are also nasty pieces of work watch out for them. Or train into one yourself. :)

If lazors are your thing then an oracle may work for you. Just be aware they fly like wet tissues so you need to perfect the art of shoot-and-scoot or you will die in a fire.

If you are planning on learning PvP, fly cheap. Stick to T1 frigates, destroyers, and if you got a bit of wealth T1 cruisers. You may have some trouble finding viable frig targets in 0.0 (probably have better luck in low) but you will find some, and you will learn to run from much larger forces. It's not only possible it is very plausible to loose 5+ ships a day learning to PvP. Can you afford to lose multiple Rokhs? Not to mention all the T1 frigs have recently received a buff, making them pretty awesome. T1 cruisers will be getting a buff here in a few weeks.

If you want to PvE, dock up your PvP ship and undock with a different PvE ship. You will find very few instances where a fitting for a ship is acceptable for both PvP and PvE, it's the nature of EVE PvE. PvE fits usually have massive resist holes, no warp disrupt/scram, sometimes no prop mod, etc.

Generally PvP is all about being able to do as much DPS as possible in as small an amount of time as possible

62 days is just the START of the training time you will need.
Nanite Repair Paste is pretty much essential if you want a decent edge during a fight.

Don't start practicing/learning PvP skills in battleships, you are going to die LOTS
1 properly fitted BS will get you at least 10 properly pvp-fitted Frigates

What? Please elaborate on how Nanite Repair Paste helps one win a fight. I find I do better in fights when my mods are not deactivated being repaired.

As a couple have already suggested, I wouldn't start out in a BS. Bad choice. Rokh is decent as a fleet sniper, but that's about it. Consider Rupture or Stabber, high meta weps and faction ammo. It's much cheaper, and until you feel your way thru you'll have the isk to experiment. But yeah, those are Minnie ships Blink so you'll have some cross training to do. There's a reason why Minnie ships are used for people just getting their sea legs under themselves. Smile
