Looks fine to me (the bridge is a nice touch), though the current design isn't bad either, but just don't forget give the Domi some love....Drone spewing...bike-seat looking thing (that is so ugly I can't look directly at it) of doom!

So true. But can they execute with quality on those projects? Pirate

Too much pod racer look. And CCP needs to be more practical about its placement of hardpoints. They seem to have this liking for old school pirate broadside salvos. "Arrrr matey knock your wheels off and aim ye cannon to gut her in the bilge..."

That, or a muscle car.

Might be me, but I like my ships a bit more "brick", without huge structures that would twist and bend when making a "sharp turn".
(ok, so battleships don't possibly make large turns, but imagine the inertia on the forward "limbs" at a slow turn even - inertia stabilizer fields are nice to explain how it's possible, but you don't quite feel them.)
Just imagine, how it would be, if after the shields failing, some frigates would get between the Mega's two structure-parts at the front, kill at the drones coming out, and once almost none are left, one of them goes for the heat exhaust above the drone exit bay...

Then again, I know my sense of aesthetic is off, for I like the Dominix.
Feels like a humongous piece of brick when you fly a battleship for the first time.
Explains all the loss of speed and gain of mass.
Makes you feel that it's a lumbering giant that can take on those "legendary" level four missions, and come out top.

After a while you realize it's only 894 meters at the axis, compared to a Hyperion at 1509.
Always wondered at the start of playing why it doesn't have a speed or MWD bonus like the humongous Thorax it could be with all the sleekness and FEEL of speed it has.
(Then again, some use it shield tanked with MWD I suppose)

Broadsides...
... reminds me, still haven't got to buying that Mael, load it with 1400mms, and unleash it at some frigates in some asteroids. Preferably in a n00b system, next to folk mining in a frigate. Even if I won't hit anything at all unless I shoot at asteroids.

"We want PvE activities to require active participation and mirror PvP more closely." Stacking penalty for NPC EWAR then? Lock range under 9km from over 100 in a BS is not fun. Nor is two NPC web drones making me crawl 10m/s. PvP SW-900 x5: 75m/s.

So far, I love the changes. I'd like to think it was my comments about adding a glowing/spinning bit to the circles on the arms/legs while I was checking it out on Buckingham that got them to add it, but I probably wasn't the only one to think so. :P

In any case, one thing I do not like with the current iteration is the top part, next to/below the bridge, is too "exposed" and seems to add a weaker/ravaged look that's more Minmatar style. It takes away from the feeling of being a "muscle car" as Mund Richard mentioned in the post above, which I think is a pretty accurate description of what it implies with its new design.

So, rather than the exposed area at that part of the ship, I think it should be plated/covered--as the current Kronos is. Not necessarily the same design, but covered. Elsewhere, it looks good, but adding it to the rear part of the ship just makes it look weaker.

Also, not a fan of the antenna spikes in the front of the ship as they don't fit and take away from the sleekness of the ship. I'm not sold on the two spikes coming off the windowed top bridge (previously cannon-looking thing?) area either, but I wouldn't mind those as much.

That's all I can think of for now for the basic Megathron hull.

Kronos:
I'm waiting to see what changes you're going through on the Kronos's next iteration before I get too much into it. Currently I like the idea of the changes to tailor to the 4-gun setup, but the changes to the top bridge/fin look too squashed (maybe just due to quick model changes) and more like the back of a beetle with its wings out, than anything else. I like the idea, though, but this implementation doesn't strike me as ideal.

Other than that, I prefer the separation of the leg "casts" that the mega design has (the gap) rather than the "solid" design of the Kronos'.

The ass-end should be a little wider, but looks good. The domi always reminds me of a buffalo head, maybe some horns (hard points) on top would be nice.Blink

One other thing, the change from a big curve on the front end of the old Mega hull, versus the new harsh slant with the change seems a bit much. Perhaps a less extreme angle, or re-adding more of a gentle curve on the front? Somewhere in between would be nice, but the sudden slope doesn't feel Gallente-like to me and the curve, even if subtle, is part of what makes it retain its style.

On that note, I also think it would be better to have the lights aiming straight forward, or just slightly lower, rather than at the angle they are at now (which follows the front of the ship).

So, again, concerning the latest change with the new open part at the center-rear of the Megathron where the engines are: Way too exposed, same argument I gave above: Too open! You're taking off all the armored bits that make the Megathron look strong!

So, STAHP this madness and put the plates (as per the current Kronos) on, and put the cover back on the engines. This is starting to get silly. Next I suppose we'll just remove all the plating and put some lights there instead. At that point, shall we just paint it with rust and make it a Minmatar ship?

I think the new Megathron is gorgeous. Vindicator and Kronos are also beautiful.

Haven't really taken that close of a look yet at the Stabber and Tempest hulls or their derivatives yet. Last I checked the textures on the Vagabond were still very much a work in progress.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Yep, looks like a major expansion to me......Shocked

And does anyone really fly a mega anymore? Can't remember the last time I saw one in a fleet or gang.

What I really like about the new Megathron is how all the added detail to the skin adds to the sense of scale. It just looks and feels more like a BIG ship now Smile

I was always thinking that you cant see scale without any reference object that you know from real life. Maybe that's why Police is using black and white boards for this.. but now i know that I was wrong! Thank you CCP Guard :)

This.

The engine glow effects are really awesome too. Has a nice ripple effect that is really dynamic. I'm hoping that all Gallente ships will be upgraded with these effects eventually. The new glowing tail-light is sweet too.

Compensating!

It's ok, I'm short too and surprisingly also like the "big" feel the new detail on the megathron adds... Coincidence?

A little less droop on the twin bow and it would be the meanest looking ship in space. Hell, I might even fly one.

Next stop - Capital ships remodeling and retexturing. its realy weird that window on titan (one yelow pixel) is larger than my cruiser. And please, note that its not unusual that some of us have 3GB of graphic memory now so we want also BIG textures (for highest graphic settings). Blink. EVE is not multiplatform console/PC game so i think that there is a lot of place for graphic experiments. (DX11, ultra large textures, heavy shaders... etc..)

It seems odd to redo the already fine looking Megathron and not completely redo the Dominix.

This is not a signature.
