I have
Astrometics 5
Astr. Rangefinding 2
Astr. Pinpointing 3
Astr. Acquisition 2

I was probing for Complexes and found an - I think in English its "DECAYED ANGEL MINING INSTALLATION"
After an hour of probing for this site I ended up INSIDE the smallest probing range and had to zoom MAX in to position the probes and still got only 83%?? Is this normal?

I can't say if that is normal for that site, but you want astrometric rangefinding trained to level 4 as soon as possible. There are also several ways to improve your probing in addition to skills. Look in to ships, that have a bonus to probe scan strength, probing implants and faction probing equipment(launcher and probes). There are also rigs, that make it easier to scan down sites. Probing down a site should take few minutes at most, so if you can't get a 100% hit after an hour, you're unlikely to get it until you somehow improve your probe scan strength.

From the screenshot, it looks like the probes' radius is much larger than their spacing. If you group them too tight relative to the radius you start to get worse results. You "might" be able to achieve 100% by spacing them out a bit around that hit.

But yeh, as above, there are some sites you just can't find without topnotch rangefinding and pinpointing. Usually in nullsec.

I was wondering about that one, i read somewhere that this site is in lowsec although i was in highsec and it had a strength of 1.25
@Destination
actually i used my heron after I thought the Drake was the problem. I think its really a skill problem.
might try the riggs in addition

It might well be normal, for all I know. Your skillz are crappy. Train two of Rangefinding, Pinpointing and Aquisition to 4. The ones that affect something other than scan time (I can't recall which of the ones it is). Then try again.

Also remember to fly a ship with a scan strength bonus. A T1 scanning frigate, or the T2 equivalent, the Covert Ops frigate (or maybe some T3 subsystem configuration).

And train up the skill that increases the scan strength bonus of the hull. Probing isn't easy, and you need all the bonus you can get. IIRC I rigged my Covert Ops ship to give it further scan strength bonus, beyond the bonus from Covert Ops skill 5.

edit: Yes, as Destination says, you may also want to look into a faction probe launcher, for extra bonus.

Yes, increase the probing's strenght :
1) Astrometric rangefinding 4
2) Run some missions for the sisters of EVE and get at their LP shop their probe launcher (+10% strenght) and their probes (+ 10%), the whole lot for something like 16500 LP.

Then you'll have much more fun scanning Smile

Edit : as Utsen Dari already pointed, the position of your probes is wrong. Space them.

You mean outside the probe bubble. If that's so, usually i do this, but this way I only got 75%. The closer i got the better the result was.

yeah hold ALT and spread the probe bubble out a bit. They are all to close together. Make them overlap more not one big ball. That will fix it.
