I don't think the Capacitor warning should come as early as 30%. I'm sure a lot of players rely on peak recharge, which AFAIK happens at around 35% cap.

So, seriously... Consider moving the threshold to 20%. Or make it customizable, like the warnings for Shield HP, Armour HP and Hull HP.

It's fully customizable, like the shield, armor and structure warnings.

Goodness graciousness! Sound? In my EVE?

Quote:
Those new tracks will change and become even darker and more moody in systems that have seen a number of players ships destroyed in the last 24 hours.

So now I can echolocate whether or not fun times are there to be had when I jump into a new system in w-space? Maybe I'll have to turn down my constant background oonse when I'm exploring.

Now a short sound will play after your skill training completed notification

I cannot be the only person thinking of these. I hope the new "mission accomplished!" sound becomes just as iconic.

Quote:
It‘s thought of kind of like when you are completely silent in the darkest night and you hear the blood rushing through your veins and noises from your brain signals. Perhaps you don‘t. We just hear voices that whisper terrible things.

I think T3s should whisper terrible things to their pilots. Just saying.

Quote:
Now, when the capacitor reaches 30% you will hear a UI warning sound, allowing you to take the necessary precautions before it‘s too late.

Will we be able to adjust this? I have a few ships that spend a lot of time with very low capacitor, and I'm afraid this sound will become the new "THE-THE-THE CAPA-THE CAPACI-THE CAPACITOR IS EM-THE CAPACITOR-THE-THE", which can get old. Will all of the environmental sounds/music have adjustable volumes in the general menu?

edit: you ninja replied! Good to know.

Overall, this is very exciting.

The music from the jukebox won't go away. All of it is still being used in the improved system. No tracks were harmed during the making of this expansion.

Oh, can we please please please have a special creepy atmo flavour sound that is played when a cloaked ship is slowboating towards one's ship?
More precisely: that will be played _most times_ when a cloaky is approaching and sometimes for no reason at all.

You also added some annoyingly repetitive sounds...

Undock sound
Dock sound
Initial NPC aggression sound
End of NPC aggression sound
"New" Stargate sounds still just sound like broken TS or Vent noises.

Just to name a few...and these all stack on top of each other, if i undock while still flagged with NPC aggression i then get both new sounds...

Also, would it be possible to give us an option to turn turret sounds UP...currently in order to hear my turret sounds i have to have the environment sounds to a point where the VERY repetitive NPC rat sounds get extremely annoying. Also, with the volume at the level needed to hear my turrets shooting, while avoiding the even more annoying and very repetitive active module noises, it would be nice to have a "station" volume option, so we don't have to keep turning our volume up and down constantly.

Will there be a way for fan sites to get a hold of the new music since Juke Box is changing? I currently use Eve's music as background found for my podcast and I'd love to up date it with the new music coming with Retribution. Currently, I pull that music from the Juke Box data folder. Will a sound folder still be available by accessing content files or will CCP be able to make a playlist data dump available for those who use the music in their projects?

The updates are all great. I do enjoy playing Eve with sound though it's usually just world sounds and the music is turned off so I can listen to other things. The new alert sounds are a great concept and I'm sure will be appreciated by many players. Looking forward to the new turret sounds also. Very cool Team Klang.

Personally, if they do this, the only sound that can be used is the Jaws theme.

Wow, this all sounds great, but I have one little concern abou-

CCP t0rfifrans wrote:

You can set the threshold to be wherever you want actually, just like with the other warnings.

Nevermind, this is 100% awesome. Having options to turn it all on and off is also good, sometimes you need to appreciate your FC screaming in your ear rather than the dulcet music of the spheres (in cornsyrup).

Any chance of getting a "MU-MU-MULTIKILL" sound for bombing runs?

Also, with regard to victory fanfares, is that based on journal update or some kind of site-completion flag? Because I wouldn't mind seeing something like that for clearing anoms and such as well. Not so many mission hubs in w-space.

EDIT: By the bye, a proximity warning when you're in a cloaked ship would also be cool, but not by any means necessary.

I think you can use plugins like downloadhelper in firefox to download the mp3 directly from soundcloud, regardless of their download option settings

This all sounds great, except for... planets making sounds? I'd expect your ship to make a sound even when stationary - it's still a machine with life support systems and all that running even when not moving. But planets just don't make sounds, that's silly.

When astronauts today go into orbit, one of the things they remark on is how peaceful and quiet Earth seems from all the way up there. Planets in EVE shouldn't make any sound.

Having said all of that, there is no sound in space at all, so true realism dictates the sounds be removed altogether! Blink

The planet sounds are ambient.

You can hear them right now by visiting a planet in Planet Mode and turning up the volume. The change just makes the sound play when your ship is near the planet in space as well.

We went and created X variations, so that when you do that 70 jump route, there are mild differences in the sound and flavor of each jump, making those hauler runs a little more bearable.

Each specific gate has its own fixed sound, right? Because it would be really cool to get to know the sound of your local gates.

. Eve tracks on soundcloud - nice

. Completely Revamped Turret Sounds - wasn't this done like 3 years ago to great constipation and/or consternation? For those who weren't around or don't remember, sounds in general were pretty damn awesome, then someone at CCP derped and fixed That Which Wasn't Broken (shocker, right?) resulting in muted fishbowl battles and warping sounds for like 2 months...

. "Hisec will contain the more bright and jovial tracks..." - I'd like to nominate the Disney theme song "It's a Small World" to be blasted constantly (and at max volume) within highsec.
