Enlightened Academy - Working in partnership with Enlightened Industries

Overlord: Lovelocke (Spiderworm)
CEO: Shenjo Nahrnid (Kehzen)
Public Channel: ENL-A
Killboard:http://enla.eve-kill.net

Welcome to the Academy

During my time in EVE, and as CEO of Enlightened Industries, I have come to learn that newbies are adorable and often make the most loyal members. ENL-I has recruited from E-UNI since its inception and they always produce excellent pilots.

In EVE there are several fantastic teaching organisations. E-UNI, as mentioned, is one, which offers an all round experience of every aspect EVE has to offer. RvB offers specifically PvP experience, typically in high-sec/lowsec with some nullsec thrown in. Agony offers amazing nullsec PvP experience. None of these however specialise in sov warfare, which is where Enlightened Academy comes in.

Sov Warfare

I have found sov warfare to be the most enjoyable aspect of the game. I love the political intrigue, the drama-laden wars and most of all I love the constant fighting. A week doesn't go by in ENL-I that isn't full of drama, or huge fights everyone is talking about or some other amazing thing which has captured peoples imaginations.

Enlightened Academy aims to provide a teaching experience to new pilots, and long term carebears, which focuses on sov warfare and living in nullsec.

You will be given a specific training plan which will see you train into several ships allowing you to fly in all of the doctrines we use in ENL-I. You will also be given all the skillbooks you need for free.

You will be given free ships to PvP with.

You will be taken out on educational roams regularly into nullsec. The focus will be on fun, and dying. You are not expected to become an elite PvPer; indeed, our aim is simply to get you used to dying, and to no longer fear death because out in nullsec you will die. A lot.

At the end of your training plan you will be encouraged to join ENL-I - a large successful corporation in TEST Alliance Please Ignore. You will however be free to join whoever you please, whether that is another corporation in TEST, an allied corporation in another alliance or a hostile corporation from across the universe. Although we want to see you in ENL-I you will not be made to feel obliged to join us.

A 'Workfair' thread on our forum will allow any corporation to advertise on there.

Oh god, the community!

Becoming a member of ENL-A gives you access to the large community of ENL-I. Not only do we have a dedicated Mentor team sitting in a shared channel waiting to help you, but we also have over a dozen FCs in all timezones wanting to lead you to your deaths.

We also have a cracking and open sense of humour, and you won't merely be following orders and training your skills but making friends and having a laugh with us. We cover all timezones and whether you're a moontimer or a yank you'll find plenty of people online to chat with.

Corp CEO/Recruiter? Read this!

The Academy will prove a valuable resource to those PvP corporations looking for fresh blood! You can expect one of our graduates to be able to fly the following:

Rifter > Thrasher > Rupture > Blackbird > T2 armour tanked Maller > T2 tanked perma MWD Drake - A ship for every doctrine, even AHACS.

They will also have support skills trained to a respectable level.

Our recruits will have knowledge of ship doctrines, from hellcat to alphafleet. They will understand about the tactical advantages to these doctrines, as well as have an understand of nullsec mechanics, including sov mechanics. As well as this they will also know how to make ISK.

The Academy is still in its infancy right now, but head on over to www.ENL-I.com/forum/ - Upon registering, which only requires a basic APi key which will not give us access to your mails or anything, you will be able to see several public sections including the Workfare thread. All Academy members can see this, and see your advertisement.

Supporting Information

We have a Wiki - it is currently still being worked on but the most important stuff is available, such as ship fittings etc. We are also in the process of setting up a dedicated website. Our forum is shared with ENL-I. We have a Mumble server, shared with ENL-I, and you can find people online 24/7 to help.

We have the infrastructure in place to help make your beginnings in EVE plain sailing.

Yesterday there was a couple of roams which produced a couple of kills. We're taking our time and teaching the newbies about fleets and what not. It's all going well so far!

Cheers Vasya, and get over to www.ENL-I.com/forum/ and register, then put your corp's advert in the Work Fair section. We did a suicide gank on a rather expensive Tengu last week and our newbies certainly enjoyed it, so Piracy may be something they go for.

More fleets go out every day and everyone is having fun. Our numbers aren't huge right now but they're growing steadily. Recruitment is also fairly quick. Drop by ENL-A for a chat now!

Recruitment still going well, we're on our way to 50 members! We've been doing roams every day and have even done a couple of highsec ganks, one of which dropped 6 PLEX!

Bob by ENL-A if you're looking to get some good PvP experience!

Thanks :)

I FC'd a roam today! Was eventful. Killed a Talos and Taranis; lost nothing. Avoided bombing runs, snipers and we killed an armor hac gangs only tackle ship before escaping. They were pretty angry.

More fleets from me oh yea!

Ok so it's approaching a month now that the Academy has been officially open.

So far they've done a bit of everything; high-sec suicide ganking, low-sec piracy and don't forget null-sec shenanigans. All the while they've been learning about the political make up of null-sec, such as who ENL-I is currently at war with and who we're cuddly friends with.

They've been given free ships and modules, free skillbooks and have been shown how to make money.

It's still early days yet; it's still not as busy as we expect it to get (currently circa 60 members). But it's a relaxed atmosphere and we place emphasis on going out and dying. We want you to die. You won't get told off for having a bad kill/death ratio. We want to see you welp a fleet. This will help you get over your fear and make you a more effective fighting machine.

As always our public channel is ENL-A. There have been a lot of questions about requirements - basically the main requirement is you don't have extensive PvP experience already. The academy is aimed at those brand new in the game, but it can accommodate long term newbies, people coming from a wormhole and wanting to try nullsec, maybe even someone from a nullsec industrial or renting corp. The key is here you need the training.

Well the Academy has been open now nearly a month and the first members are preparing to join ENL-I. As you can imagine they're quite excited - after all, all they've heard about for the past month is stories about amazing battles.

ENL-A is doing well. The recruits themselves are taking their own roams out, gaining confidence and in turn helping to make the other newbies confident too. This was how I expected things to go; self-autonomy. The key is creating the right environment, and in this case that environment is a relaxed atmosphere, plenty of experienced knowledge going about but an emphasis placed on having fun. The message we convey is that it's OK to die - in fact, we're usually disappointed if we don't die. This means our newbies don't feel bad or guilty for adding losses to the killboard which in turn ensures they keep flying out into Syndicate and inevitably dying.

The Academy currently stands at almost 70 members. To say I'm pleased with how well we've done in our first month is an understatement - we have achieved everything I expected, and hoped, we would do.

Over the next month I'm expecting more fleets happening, especially now the newbies are gaining confidence. I'm expecting to grow to 120 members. And finally, I'm expecting the first batch of properly skilled recruits to be hitting ENL-I and adding to our ranks.

If you want to hop on board then head on over to ENL-A now to speak to a recruiter.

More roams, more welps; our killboard is full of losses haha! It's all part of the plan though Twisted

We just had our first Academy newbro move over to ENL-I and he's pretty excited. He'll be writing a small report here soon on his experiences.

Moving on...

This is going to be a fairly short update...

I recently had some forced AFK, but now I'm back fully active again. There hasn't been any updates to this thread but the academy has been running as usual.

First things first; we're constantly working on improving what we have, and recently we held an academy Q&A session where we gave the newbies a chance to air their grievances, opinions and anything else they wanted. We gathered a lot of feedback which is helping us to improve things.

One of the main issues people brought up was the lack of activity. It's not that we haven't been taking roams out, but Syndicate seemed to dry up. There was plenty of PvP, but it seemed to increase in scale and wasn't the small gang we moved there for. We do after all take out rifters and blackbirds, so being dropped on my massive armor BS fleets soon loses its appeal. Because of this we have decided to move our base of operations and look at different areas of nullsec. We've moved closer to ENL-I's staging system too, making it easier for our fleets to converge.

We're currently working on increasing activity, both in fleet activity as well as social, and ENL-A is now involved heavily in all of ENL-I's social activities and this includes drunken comms competitions where I shout something for someone to do, they do it and win 100mil, and we all laugh at them. It's good fun!

Long overdue update

Hi guys!

Time to get the propaganda machine rolling again.

There was a lull in activity in the academy, and we've been working hard on fixing that. Now that I'm back full time I can devote more time to fc'ing academy fleets and training the adorable newbies how to die terribly.

Phase 1 of the revolution is complete - to be more social. We are now on comms a lot more than we was, and we're doing more competitions and things in that regard.

Phase 2 is about to begin, which is more fleets more often. We're also bringing in many more staff to help with the work load.

We have extended our 50mil lead-a-fleet reward to academy members too, meaning any fleet a newbie takes out will earn him 50mil! That's a lot of level 1 missions worth right there!

I would also like to mention the academy dudes who have moved over to ENL-I: these guys are proving to be exactly what I expected, that is enthusiastic and motivated and making me proud getting in all the fleets. The academy is certainly a great starting point for any pilot in EVE wanting to move to sov warfare based play, drop by ENL-A to talk to us!
