Which ship?

I'm going to be doing some gas cloud harvesting, what's the best ship for this? Skiff or Mackinaw? Or is there another?

I just turned into an egg, did I level up? I spent an hour trying to salvage a wreck, when in local a guy said "Stop it, this is my Tempest, I was AFK"

Last I check Skiff, Mackinaw, or any other tech 1 or tech 2 barge can not mount the gas harvestor so you will need to find something else to use.

They can't? I know my Retriever can.

last time | checked a retriever did not have a turrent slot. and a gas harvester needed a turret slot.

What you need for harvesting gas:

- 5 turret hard points.
- Large cargohold

Take a look through the available ships and find one that has those properties.

For larger fields, I like an exequror. Only 4 turret hardpoints, but a bigger cargo hold than any other ship that can mount more than one. For smaller fields, battlecruisers work fine, except a drake.

Wait about 4 weeks, then use the new ORE Mining Frigate.

Or if you must do it now, probably any turret-based Battlecruiser or Battleship. I had my sights on a Fleet Issue Typhoon for level 4 gas mining missions, because its cargo hold can be increased to the maximum necessary without using rigs. Meaning it can be re-sold without problems once I'm done with it (if I'm ever done with it). If re-sale is of no interest, then a cargo rigged non-faction Typhoon should work fine.

But I decided to just wait for the ORE Frigate instead.

As stated above, the new mining frigate is coming out soon. Gas harvest bonus speed bonus, 5k Ore bay (that holds gas also), +2 warp stability for GTFO-ability.

Aye you have to use a ship with turret slots to use gas harvesters & mining vessels do not have turret slots.

When I have collected gas before on mining missions I have used a Hurricane with Orca support. Don't need to worry about cargo space then.
