I wanted a specific moon in high sec.

I war decced the corp that had the pos, removed it and put my own up.

The corp the joined DEC shield.

I am now in a mutual war with a massive alliance with no way to end it.

Is this how the game mechanic is supposed to work? Am i now stuck in a war FOREVER?! surely this is broken??

Please no trolling, it's a real question.

Close your corp and make a new one. It was a horrible name anyway.

It is broken, that's why Dec Shield are doing this, to try to get the devs to fix it....again. Look at it this way, at least you're contributing to a good cause P

It's not a massive issue. Just a war I don't necessarily want.

So this is the game mechanic working properly?

Recycling corps is not allowed and I could face disciplinary action... as well i don't want to leave this corp, and don't think i should have to.

For the purposes of taking down POSes, Dec Shield is easily bypassed by forming a new corporation specifically for the war dec. Put your DPS in that corporation, take down the POS, disband the corporation.

Dec Shield is great. It turns out that a lot of folks starting wardecs actually don't want targets that shoot back.

You're probably right. If I want to war dec A that shouldn't mean having to fight B, C, D, E, F... etc. as well!!

DEC shield seems a bit like an exploit to me. Obviously that's not how CCP intented it to be. The only answer to ending the war shouldnt be ending the corp. That's recycling corps and a load the server doesn't need!

It is supposed to be if you start a war and the other party wants to keep the war, you are stuck.
It is supposed to be if you have a war and join an alliance, that war spreads to the alliance.

It is working properly however it is unknown if the combination of those two rules ie Dec Shield is working as intended.

The bottom line is that you have to play the game with the rules in place no matter how dumb they might be so either tough it out or disband/recreate your corp

...and here's the DevPost.

The only thing changing is after a war has been declared to be mutual (say, by DecShield) after a week the aggressor will have a button to end the war. This gives attackers even more incentive, and is a good change imho.

"You're probably right. If I want to war dec A that shouldn't mean having to fight B, C, D, E, F... etc. as well!! "

I think this is meant to be done by the Hired Merc system, so while while this type of thing can be done for the defending corp, there will at least be costs and limits placed on it. That's not to say the aggressor can't hire allies too, but it has to be done manually I think, paying the allied corp to war dec your target too, instead of through a set-up system.
