Congratulations to the community for waking up CCP and making the CEO recognize that he/they were headed down the wrong path. Unfortunately, it is not until it hits their wallets and they see subcribers drop that they start paying attention. Perhaps they believed, wrongly, that the protesters, the people cancelling accounts, the outrage, and the raging forums posts would eventually dissipate and dissapear. That account subscriptions would have remained stable or dip slightly, and then start to grow again. That was not the case.

So you crazy guys shooting at a statue in Jita for weeks, I call you the Occupy CCP guys!

As a subscriber to this game since day one, and a tester since the beta days, Im glad that perhaps this game will continue to thrive and the refocus will bring about new gameplay we can once again be excited about.

120 lost their jobs for the mismanagement of the company, their IP, and spreading their resources thin. The blame falls entirely on the boss not the community. The players main concern is the for the game to survive. No EVE, NO CCP, MANY more people without jobs.

Actually it is about the attitude of the community on this forum.
People are happy about others losing there jobs.
Sorry but that is pathetic, and sad and you all talk about losing respect for CCP well after some of the posts I have seen today.
It is the community doesn't deserve a thread of respect.

The sad Part is. Those 'fools drunk on ego will continue to have a job and the poor Devs that were never allocated enough resources to begin with get to pay the ultimate price. Sad really.

CCP was not always mismanaged. They were able to inspire people to play and stay since 2003. They lost their way, people are allowed to make mistakes, and we hope they learn their lesson. If that is not the case, I will personally look for greener pastures.

I don't agree with you that this is a horrible, failing game but I will ask you, "CAN I HAVE YOUR STUFF?"

Telling them what product we want to buy is not abusing them.

Its how business works mate.

They are supposed to meet the demand. Not tell us what they want to sell us and we have to like it.

Sorry mate, tbh, i do not care for the jobs, yeah CCP DEVs are awesome weeheeee, but i love EVE and not CCP and
if it takes 120 jobs to save EVE so be it.

it may sound harsh but srsly this is how it works.

BTW: wahts better, 120 jobs now, or 600 jobs in a year or two?

Why was it ill thought out? Seems like business common sense to me. If you allocated staffing to project B (WoD/DUST) then you say "we're going to focus on project A (EVE) for the forseeable future", you no longer really need the staffing for project B and to just keep them around is unnecessary overhead. Yes it sucks but they are running a business and you just dont keep people around for the sake of keeping people around in a business (Looking at you United States Postal Service, although to be fair, government employment is under a different set of rules and regs).

I know people are up in arms about Fallout and all (and rightfully so), but if most of his job description was working on WoD and Dust, and CCP just pulled the reins in on both of those projects, unless he can do something else that no one else in CCP can do (Community Rep), then again, you're just keeping staff around for the sake of keeping them around - it's unnecassry cost and it's something that no CEO/CFO/COO wants on their quarterly/annual P & L's.

Again, Im not saying that I agree with what CCP has done and I am congnizant of what this does to those affected, espeically here in the US, but I understand CCP's decision. Companies do things like this all the time..

This is a privately owned company. We are stuck with the head guys and there is nothing we can do other than to vote with our money. I'm not personally happy that anyone lost their job. Unfortunately, people will suffer real life consequenses when they make mistakes with their virtual world.

I'm afraid it's the beginning of the end: now I see even less reasons for people to have multiple long term subscriptions because potential bankruptcy means characters cannot be resold later and subscriptions cannot be considered as safe investment anymore.

Don't be ridiculous. Hilmar admitted it was mainly his fault in his devblog. This is all the result of what Hilmar (and whoever supported him in the company) did.

The players just behaved rationally in a) expressing their displeasure at Hilmar's direction, and b) voting with their feet, in the only way he would understand (as he himself stated in the leaked email).

You should feel ******* proud that you're playing in a game with other players who aren't such addicted twats that they'll swallow anything developers throw at them (which is what Hilmar expected, as implied in his leaked email).
