Freighter Maximizing Survivability

Been a while since I've played EVE, and the toon is getting within about a month of flying a Freighter. I'm curious, what can be done to maximize a freighter's survivability (high sec hauling)?

What I recall at this point:

1. Obelisk is most survivable (largest sum total of shield+armor+structure hp), right?

2. Shield Operation V and Shield Management V = a bit more shield hp/regen (unless I am remembering game mechanics wrong)

3. Slot 8: Noble ZET-30 structure hp booster + Slot 10 Noble ZET-50 armor hp booster

4. Mechanics V and Hull Upgrades V = a bit more armor and structure hp

5. Disguising valuable cargo nestled in lots of non-stacking junk

6. Don't auto-pilot?

Anything I'm leaving out? Any tricks for better alignment and warpout speeds, etc.?

An alt in the same corp with 3 webs can get you warped in seconds.

Good point! Not even that hard to multibox it.

slaves and boosting alt if you are wanting to push hp as high as possible although you are better off just using a webbing scouting alt and common sense.

Throwing a bunch of random low value crap in cargo, so it's hard to find valuable stuff between the long list of stuff from a scan.

Edit: bah, must learn to read

Or, you could just double wrap your items.

1) put your valuable loot in a container
2) make a courier contract out of that container(s) for your freighter character
3) loot in the original container won't show up on scan
4) profit

Can labels also do not show up. It doesn't matter what you label the cans, so you can't do any trickery in that aspect. Your best bet is to contract the cans and ensure to have some other items in your inventory as well. Scans can't detect which "level" the loot is at, so if it only shows two cans and no other items, it's a pretty obvious double wrap. If you're carrying other items though, no one can tell if it's double wrapped or if they are just loose items.

The suicide gank squads from goons use a scanning tool. You just paste your cargo scan results in it and it gives you the total value pulled from eve central.

So no, hiding it wont work.

Double wrapping will get you ganked. Check eve kill for the last month or so for freighter losses.

Webs and common sense are the way to go.

Set a direct course in your autopilot, and set avoid system for a couple of systems so you don't take the road most traveled.

Edit : Grammar

Rem reps, gang links: siege resistance mod, armoured resistance mod. A scorpion following you round.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

best way to survive is to haul so small value cargo that it is not worth to suicide gank it, it does not bring 100% security but helps a lot. So do not load your freighter full of tritanium, it will be worth to suicide gank if you do so.

If you have one stack of trit filling your hold, that will probably not be ganked. First off, there is only a 50% chance it will drop. Gankers want some chance at loot, not all or nothing unless that all is worth a lot. A hull full of trit, no. A 300 stack of plex... Yeah, you will be killed.

Also, a hold full if trit is a lot of space for minimal value. Gankers would prefee more isk per cubic meter. I'm not saying they won't gank you, but a charon full of trit verse a hold fill with multiple stacks of high value, small cubic meter items, the gankers will choose the latter.

Isn't the answer Red Frog?

or, not being r3tard3d?

Don't ask about Italics, just tilt your head.

This.

Frankly, it is cheaper to just use Red Frog and avoid the risk and the annoyance of piloting a freighter somewhere.
