High EHP ship for moving small valuable things AFK

I need a suggestion for what hull to use, and for how to fit it. I already have a Crane fitted and rigged to move stuff quickly with reasonable EHP, and a Bustard fitted with buffer tank in MID slots and rigged and LOW-slotted for cargo. And a Charon for the low-value-density stuff.

But I'd like something tankier than the Bustard. Doesn't need lots of cargo space at all, just a lot of EHP, and decent speed (faster than the 0.7 AU/s of the Charon) to move stuff AFK through high-sec.

I could buy and fit another Bustard for this purpose, but for reasons of simplicity, a different hull would be nicer, as I'd then be able to immediately discern between my large-cargo Bustard and my ultra-tanky non-Bustard.

Are there other racial Deep Space Transports worth looking into? Or should I just grab a Bustard and accept the hassle of needing to be able to discern between the two different ones (often both parked in Jita).

You can already fly an Occator, right?

Mods are cheap; rigs are expensive because they don't drop. 94k EHP. For full passive afk-ness drop the suitcase for an energized thermic membrane; drops you to 82k EHP.

Impels can beat this anyhow, but that's a long train for a marginal benefit. At least in my eyes.

Yup, I trained for Iteron Mark V long ago, so I can fly Gallente Industrials, and also their Transports. Amarr or Minmatar would require me to train their Industrial 0->5. Thanks for the fit!

Orca which is tank fit.

DCU + Bulkheads should net somewhere between 200-250k EHP. Can throw on a bunch more LSE's and rig it for shield tanking to possibly reach 300k EHP. Thats about 1.5-2x the tank a charon has so 'safe' to afk transport 2-3b of stuff.

The unscannable corp hangar is going away though.

However.. it is still best to move it in a cloaky hauler and not be afk. Or just contract it, if you are lazy. 1-2m reward for a <1000M public contract clears within a day usually.

DCU2 doesn't do anything to help AFK tank.

then replace it with a second bulkhead.

either way you're going to get turned in to spacedust because you were stupid enough to haul almost anything while afk.

How much is "not much cargo"? AFK orca or freighter will get blown up just because you're AFK, regardless of profitability.

I meant to post to Ships & Modules, not Science & Industry, and I've requested to have the thread moved over there.

Thanks for the replies so far, by the way. Many have been helpful!

Malediction or Claw, fit with overdrives and nanos. Nobody is going to bother trying to kill you or even lock you, and if they do, you'll be through the gate before they can anyway. Fit overdrives and nanos. Much less risk than a juicy looking hauler.

Any T3 cruiser with WCS fitted can easily reach 120k+ EHP. May not sound as much to a lot of nubs around here but in practice it's low signature size, fast align time and the ability to fit a covops cloak on top makes it a breathtaking amount.

There is no safe way to move high value cargo afk - plenty of hot spots where any ship on AP will get scanned regardless and a fair chance someones sitting around with enough ships to kill even a seriously high EHP ship - freighter ganks, etc. happen quite regularly.

If your moving high value stuff then you want to be at the keyboard and using a properly setup blockade runner (or covert ops cloaky T3 depending on the amount your moving).

Dude, Navy Augoror. Cheap, simple, effective.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

For, moving small expensive things like implants, plex, BPO/Cs, etc I usually use a battleship. Double wrap your items (put in cargo container, then courier contract to self using an alt), and you are 99.5% safe. I think it to be very unlikely some group organizes a large enough gank squad to take out a fitted battleship for what appears to be an empty cargo container. Double wrapped goods just show up as a cargo container on a cargo scan.

Feel free to send me isk for my awesome tip. Smile

Unlike battleships, Ferox shouldn't be pimped for missioning or anything tbh, so no one cares to scan it. People just completely ignore it, at least in highsec space.

That said, dualbuffering it with every mid/low in use, it hits 113k EHP with even resists. Worked for me for a long time. Now I'm lazy and Push does it all for me.

Yet Helios does BPO/small stuff moving much better, 19.4AU/s and covops, all you really need.
