In between all of the "you should be ashamed" post and the "lol CCP deserves what they get posts" is a rather unprecedented event in internet gaming. EVE Online is the best "Real Life Simulator" that has ever been created, and for the first time in gaming history the events that has transpired inside of a digital realm that has GREATLY effected a real life multimillion dollar company.

Standing Protests

There was allot written here but I GOT GANKED so **** it.

TR;DL

I don't think that ever before has a "Digital Protest" effected the real world in any realistic way.
EVE, as the greatest real life simulator ever created... has inadvertently lead to what could be an unprecedented event in gaming history.

Gamers protesting with enough resolve to keep their subscriptions canceled seems to have brought a real life multimillion dollar company to it's knees. Although the true blog worthy depths of my original post will never be posted (do to this forums "Excellence" UghRoll) I think I have sufficiently summarized the heart of what I wanted to say.

It's pretty compelling really...

Good times... good times.

Now back to "Orcs Must Die!"

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

eve has affected my real life a lot. I mine and code (fail) 3rd party apps.

At work, i fell further behind every year, as i kept getting front-end copy-paste mind-deadening jobs. I have always stiven to break into the group of smart coders, but been excluded. All of them had projects they worked at in their spare time, I just had expensive on-line IT classes that had 50yr old librarians and managers in them.
Eve has alowed me to break out of this cycle. I have interacted with so many people who are smarter than me in eve that I think my abilities and skills as a programmer have caught up to and in time hopefully surpas recent Computer Science graduates LOL.

Also eve pvp has made me a better driver. When my car skids on ice i can ignore the "pvp shakes" and steer it with a more or less clear head instead of panicking.

Maybe someday eve will even teach me to spell words correctly when I type them LOL.

What rocks are the most isk per hour to mine? Which of your mission loot is worth more refined than sold? What blue prints make the most proffit? Answers: https://eve-industrialist.com/ Never sell an item for less than its mineral costs again!

Apparently CCP didn't learn from their example. I miss old SWG so much

God, Galaxies was so much fun.

OT; It's pretty neat, but it's not anything new (Bungie/343 industries on Halo Reach)

The pie is a tautology

Yeah, not too bad.

Should have also added more detail to the thread, such as links to different news reports done by 3rd party game review sites. Also added stats like, amount of players subbed at the time, amount of players unsub due to that. etc, Links to Dev Blogs about the whole issue. Lack of CCP Forum activity, Emergency CSM meeting, etc.

Yes, the protest did make the world sit up and take notice. There was a lot of other different things happening due to the reason for that protest. Which is all part of the story.

I dont think those words mean what you think they mean.

EVE the greatest real life simulator? Yes, in the same way that the Mazda RX-7 is the greatest Indian curry ever invented.
