Just read a forum about how people are enjoying faction warfare. It has peaked my interest!!! The only question I have is do you need to join a corperation to play it to the fullest?? Can i still do all the cool stuff without joining someone corp??? I do want to pvp but at the same time i do enjoy pve too...

I know i said 1 question but i also made a few friends and we occasionally go out and run missions..If i am in a FW thingy and i go to play with a friend will i have to worry about people tryin to kill me constantly while me and my friend want to chillout for a bit and just play?

1.) We CAN'T answer if FW is something you would like, as it's yoru personal interest that makes or breaks that.

2.) I suggest you join a player runned corporation that is part of FW. Why, very simple, you can use the NPC corporation that is part of the FW of your faction of choice. You will find out it is completely filled with idiots and inactive farming alts (from pre patch).

In a player runned corp things will be more active and more "direct" toward your style of play. Depending on which corp you join they likely won't mind that you PvE as well as PvP.

In before Rifterlings posts here P

3.) As long as you are in FW the opposite faction can shoot you anywhere at any time they want too. So this means that even in high-sec you have to watch out for the others (FW is basically a war-dec but then a bit larger).

Also keep in mind you will be locked out from the opposing teams NPC space, so joining the Amarr FW side means you won't be able to just jump into Minmatar space, their navy will hunt you on sight.

Joining an FW corporation is highly recommended... but not mandatory.

In a corp, you will have people who can back you up in a fight, possibly provide logistical support (ex. getting ships from high-sec down to the low-sec "staging point"), and/or give you tips on how to become a better combat pilot. You might even be given access to special "intel channels" full of vastly more competent players... and gain even more connections and opportunities.

If you choose to be a "solo" pilot in Faction Warfare, understand that it will be much harder to gain favor with the more established (and better equipped and more skilled) groups. You will also be viewed with some suspicion. And you cannot count on any back-up if you find yourself in a jam.
However, not being tied to any groups you'll find that you won't have to deal with much "drama" (corporations and alliances tend to collect a good number of egos over their lifetime, egos that tend to butt heads with other egos within their own corp/alliance or with rival/allied corps/alliances) and don't really have to answer to any authority.

Who says you have to choose? Many FW pilots routinely do PvE related stuff to fund their FW activities.

Yes... as a FW pilot you will effectively be part of one giant war declaration that does not end... until you leave FW. This makes you a target anywhere and everywhere you go to anyone in the opposing militias.

That said... so long as you run missions deep in your faction's high-sec territory, avoid the enemy factions' high-sec, and avoid the major trade hubs... you won't have to worry much about enemy FW pilots coming to kill you. Just keep an eye on local.
