Does honor have a place in eve?

Honour has a very large place in EVE. It simply isn't some fairy tale version though. It is particular to the EVE universe and embedded in the way we interact.

And of course, interaction is the key. If you stare at an asteroid all day you probably won't get a feel for it.

Does honour have any place outside of EvE? No, of course not.

PvP ends when the shooting starts, not begins. It's what sets EVE PvP apart from the pretenders.

QQ more.

Yes and No. You shouldn't moan if people don't adhere to whatever honorable system you uphold. On the other hand most people have atleast somethings they do, some code they follow.

I honor ransoms
I keep my word.
I honor 1vs1 if arranged.

Does this make me a idiot ? Sure - some people would say that not dropping people in 1vs1' fights with all my friends means I get less kills. Some people would say I'm a fool for not shooting people after getting their ransom money. At the end of the day it depends on each person.

Those reflect honorable behaviors. I would define honor as acting in good faith.

I personally behave honorably in EVE as I do in RL. I don't get my jollies by acting like a jerk in EVE. OTOH, this is a role playing game. There are many that for whatever reason enjoy playing the role of a dishonorable reprobate. While I don't understand it, there are plenty of them out there. I generally feel that they would tend to be just as small in RL as they are in EVE, but that is there perogetive.

Honor's place in EVE:

"At least I still have my honor!" yelled the loser of the engagement as his pod began to shatter.

Honor has a place in EvE.
But is not Camelot, is more like "honor" in The Godfather.

This is what i suspect, and why i asked the question.
And understanding what is going on, makes it easier to deal with.
The "dishonorable reprobate" tends to talk the most and the loudest.
It is easy to lose sight of the truth.

Honour is not all that important however trust is worth more than an entire planet of gold. If you have trust then you can make trillions.

Exactly this^^. Cowards want to kill miners and call it pvp. This is without honor.

Ask Firebird Squadron how dishonoring a ransom worked out for them for example.

It might be without honor but its not cowardly. No cowardly would be like running to the forums to demand a nerf to a problem you are unwilling to face using already existing tools.

It did once, in the early years, first died in one on ones and went down hill from there. Shame.

No.

Some claim to be honoreble or do honoreble stuff. But most time it's only a lie to cover unhonoreble actions. The sad part is, many of them realy belive what they do is funny or any good.

Short minded mini rambo idiots.

Why the hell can't I fitt capital repairs or shield booster on an Orca ... it's an CAPITAL ship!
