I won't speak on behalf of my current corporation (which is a low-sec pirate corp) but from past experience of being in other pirate corps they very much do do "carebear" stuff on the side - like trading, manufacturing, missions etc.

It seems like alot of the people who never enters low-sec consider every corporation that lives there and shoot at ships on occasion as "pirate corps". The Eve-universe is not black and white like that – you'll find that some of what people think of "the pirate corps" are almost as carebeary as their high sec counterparts – it's just that they have to / want to shoot at other people from time to time.

This upcoming change is in the Dev blog you see, and I was hoping it wasn't final, that perhaps it was still a flexible thing and could be changed before hits TQ.

Yeah I'm whining, I don't like this idea.

I'm not sure where we're supposed to discuss upcoming potential changes other than here? Is this set in stone or is just a proposal CCP is considering?

If it's the latter, then I want to say I don't like it. You can say you like it. The devs may or may not adjust the proposal based on what they read here. They do read these you know. I hope so at least!

my opinion is they should be like null stations... they are there to be used even if a NPC own it... and like a station it changes hands after RF happens ect.. this will also make the PI stuff not jump to crazy prices while all of them are built.

And for null who owns the system owns all the offices... but they can be disabled like services in a null station

This will elimnate the HUGE upfont cost to maybe do 3-4 systems

These things will have no defenses, no tiers, and no racial differences. Sounds kinda lame over all, but that's PI for you. In the mean time, blow up someone else's... or just shoot at it from time to time, cloak, collect intel, and set up an ambush. I have a feeling that the will get POS weapons eventually... and then someone will be unhappy about that.

Players Customs Offices are great, it gives more things to do - and thats nothing bad. But CCP needs to add some protection against griefing.

Some group just want to screw someone else and decides to mount a gang and kill all COs in region. Few caps or bunch of BS can reinforce all COs in region in few hours (will take around minute per CO). Next day it will be impossible for defenders to defend all of them, so around 50-80% will get killed.


Suggestion:
To attack CO it should require attacking side to first deploy their own Gantry to start "siege" working one. Anchoring and onlining time should be like 30 mins total - enough to alert some defenders so we can have battle, and short enough to not make attackers bored.
After working Customs Office is destroyed attackers can activate their own, which they used to start sieging process. Or if they want they can unanchor it.

That means griefing will be much harder (but not impossible), but if you want fight for control over planet it will change nothing, as you need your own Customs Office anyway.
