Ok so i was browsing the web and stumbled upon this

10 most played PC games from July 2011 through June 2012 ( THATS HOURS!!! )

1.League of Legends 1,292,502,456 ( yes this is over a bil)
2.World of Warcraft 622,378,909
3.Minecraft 371,635,651
4.Heroes of Newerth 184,520,156
5.Diablo III 172,907,605
6.Battlefield 3 171,852,550
7.MapleStory 165,503,651
8.StarCraft II 163,980,293
9.World Of Tanks 145,702,931
10.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 126,754,082

now i thought to myself , is eve that bad :D and started calculating...

so we'll say there are 24k players online 24hours a day , taking they are 40k at night and 18k at morning (eu times..) i'd say 24k is fair

so lets get to it
24k players play for 24h a day = 576 000 hours a day ( not bad )
so 576,000 h a day for a month(30d each ) = 17,280,000 ( ok again not bad)

and finally per year

17,280,00 x 12 = 207,360,00 ( THATS 207 MILLION hours per year)

Now go back to the top and see where do we fit? CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I couldnt at first but yes it comes out like this.
We outplace huge titles such as Diablo , BF 3 etc. Its amazing how far this game has went.
But still we were not in this list ( haha) .

This is the original thread ,

http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/725795/league-of-legends-becomes-the-most-played-pc-game-in-the-world-move-over-world-of-warcraft/

oh my final words

Be proud that you are ABLE and WILLING and HAVE THE BRAINS to play a game like this , because 2 of my friends couldnt even get pass the tutorial ( wow maniacs ...).

BE PROUD , HAVE FUN & FLY SAFE
oh and also Glory to the state !!! hehe

Happy to say I do not play any of those top 10!! I did however play 2 of them at one time, and because one of them was such crap, I may never buy another title from them. Yes, I speak of that crap they called Diablo 3.

I'm a nerd, you can check my stats!! Skilling Int/Mem at 45 sp per minute is how I mack!     I'm like a lapdog, all bark no bite.

Small player base aside, after you become financially secure, eve is mostly a waiting game. I log in to set skills and clear a hub now and then so I can afford a few pvp ships that are easily replaced and almost never lost anyway, and that's on the handful of roams I may go on in a several month period.

I've lost more money due to expired insurance than destroyed ships, that should say everything you need to know about eve. It just doesn't require a time investment. League Of Legends, WoW, etc. are are set up by design to suck up as much of your time as possible.

And when Dota 2 goes gold, it's going to be up there too.

Eve is designed to keep taking your money while also giving you the ability to play other bad games as well, which is it's one redeeming feature

Don't know where this numbers come from but 2 things
I think the numbers for Wow are under-estimated because of CHINA ..... ( i guess 1B hours a Month here ... )
And for Eve Online don't forget The Chinese Server ......

CCP it's time to remove Off Grid Boost and Put Them on Killmail too, add Logi on killmails .... Open that damn door !!

you shall all bow and pray BoB

Half of those aren't even MMORPG's...LoL is an RTS, BF3 and Call of Doody are FPS and Diablo III is something else entirely.

That being said...EVE has been out 10 times longer than all of those games. EVE probably isn't in that list because they could not realistically and accurately calculate the numbers. With THAT being said...EVE is probably not quite on that list.

I don't have room for too many games. I spend most of my game time on things like Borderlands or COD - (love that live action hit) But I play Eve when I want to use my brain.

I Do not care if eve is in the top 10 or not all other titels are just for some days weeks perhaps even months at the end the all die. End of story. Eve will contineu while others fade in history.

Only ever played about 20 hours of League of Legends in total, got bored and uninstalled the thing they call a "game" from my computer. Never even given a **** about trying any of the other 9 games on the list (if the first game is nothing but Game-Developer-Feces, I don't even want to think about what the other 9 are...)

I'm sure if they did a per capita, EVE would be up there with some of the hard core Asian grinder MMO's. ISK grind in EVE doesn't differ much from gear grinds in other MMOs but because other MMO's count their subs in the millions we don't see volume hrs.

What's League of Legends? Don't really want to know; just thought I'd ask.

Consider number of players too. Take their total players and divide that into their total hours. See what you come up with, then do the same for your EVEstimate.

LolRoll

..anyway, I don't play any of those.

Too bad for CCP they don't charge by the hour, OP.

Be fun to know how many accounts the EVE player has on average though. Pretty much everyone I know has at least 2.

That would certainly cut down on the number of people AFK "playing" the game. Smile

I'd say EVE is doing well from the steady rise of subscription numbers. Who cares about played hours?

Compare apples with apples....

Your numbers are way off when you talk about "playing".

Take BF3 for instance. If that was played like eve, you'd spawn and make it over to the enemy side to find half their team was motionless as there's really no one home. Maybe a quarter of whats left out on the field would actualy be playing, but one or more of those people will be multi clienting inflating those numbers. Who's left would be staring at their settup screen & doing nothing but tweaking loadouts 'n the like between playing other games and nutt scratching.

WoW has at least 20 times more subscribers than EVE which translates into ~4b hours yearly (if EVE ~200 mil hours). Those numbers aren't accurate or represent amount of hours played per month (or week).

edit: also those numbers may be gathered by 3rd party service which isn't too accurate as well.

If they counted eve i believe it would be on there the longest, assuming Eve Online can keep things new and interesting as well as making it less of a pain to become apart of it.

AFK shouldnt be a factor because i know it isnt with anyone on the list thats up there.

Why is it that people think this game is for everyone?A better question would be "Why do some people think this game is only for them?"
