Hehe!

The History of the Falkland Islands is a very convoluted Story, here is the simplified version ,see who you think should have it Big smile

Wikipedia - Flakland Islands

But overall the only reason both the UK & Argentina is interested in a bunch of sheep farmers is the possible oil and the far more important prize! The resources of Antarctica.

Before the Antarctica Treaty Claims were based on frontage to the continent & who had explored what, that is why a lot of the claims overlap!

  • Falklands & South Georgia = UK & Argentina disputed Antarctica claim area
  • Tierra del Fuego = Argentina & Chile disputed Antarctica claim area Wikipedia - Tierra del Fuego

With a world fast shrinking in resources, the poles are the Earth's last unclaimed equivalent of EVE's Technetium Moons!! Roll

Stay home and eat British food, or invade countries with better food? Obvious choice is obvious.

Funny thing, people always complain about British food, but they never complain about our desserts.

I could really go for some hot apple crumble with vanilla ice cream now.

Besides! Even the French like our food now!

Mission Accomplished Lads!

It may have taken 1,000 years but we did it! We have won the French over to English food!

And if we can do that.... we can do anything

Funny, where I'm from, we are a former british colony, but have never fought them. Does colonization now count as Invasion? The few natives on this island died of disease, and are now extinct. Does this qualify as invasion? We didn't even live in the same places. Most of the people are decended from the irish or the english, because most are irish, does this make it some kind of invasion? Perhaps the definition of invasion is a little skewered to make it seem more humorous.

The Germans, They Controlled some islands in the English Channel during the second world war. As for successfully, they did control those islands right till the end, just not GB itself. And as I recall, the Vikings were not successful, they were beaten off by the saxons, who subsequently lost to the normans.

The vikings settled the north east and Ireland. I believe some of the northeast England dialect has norse roots. Gf did viking re-enactment so i could be very wrong.

Also you know us brits are the best troops thats why we get invited to advise on every war. Americans just advise to shoot anything that moves ;-)

ok fair enough lets scrap the vikings , i knew they had extended settlements in the north of England for centuries, and their cultural heritage still is visible over most of North england , still leaves the Romans , saxons, norman and the dutch tho

the dutch was only in 1688 not even 400 years ago
and for those lost in why the dutch ze glorious revolution
basicly a coup d etate by parlaiment using dutch troops to dispose the (legitimate) king and put a dutchman on the thone William III

Actually the whole affair is even better than the main plot line from Game of rhrones

Doesn't really count as the british were in on that too.

So it was a British invasion of ourselfs supported by the dutch to keep the catholics out. This is why Britain isnt on the list of un-invaded countriesLol

Remember its including privateers and freelancers operating with government permission. Its not all redcoats and drums.

My bet would be something either with the Holy Roman Empire or the Unification of Italy.

indeed and it has something to do with the holy roman empire in the 17 th century and the 30 years wars when both sides used scottisch and irish mercanaries extensively in their armies , that war mainly took place in what is now mainly germany
but i could be wrong ,

back to toîc , i do know that i have succesfully invaded brittain a few times while playing hearts of iron , few times with the germand and even once with the soviets , but i guess that doesn't count
