i believe the dislike button is that little flag to the left of the like button.

no, a bit further to the left, next to the time and date of the post. there you go, you got it.

It is a good idea, I can express my disagreement whatever with a single click instead of posting something insulting or nonconstructive.
This current situation is less than ideal, it's like we're all in china with their fakeass harmonious society illusion.
Then take a look at that freakshow the likes and get liked thread.

Ignore this post because it's only filled with mindless rabble...

Isn't "not liking" a post in a way a way to show you dislike it, tbh it makes more sense to "like" something if you think it's good, rather than "dislike" it.

Going off a limb here comparing this to raising kids, I believe that you will give a child better self esteem and beliefs in themselves by complementing them when they do good, rather than constantly putting them down telling them they're bad.

Similar would be with posting in general (here and everywhere), if a person is serious and wants to do a good post complement them on it if it was good, rather than putting it down.

Trolls WILL try to get as many dislikes as possible because that's the goal, so dislike in this case I think will only feed it and overall downgrade the quality.

"Dislike" button discourage people from posting in the future which is against whole idea of forums.

Also (one of) purpose(s) of free speech is possibility for idiots to demonstrate their idiocy to others.

Also in a month you'll be able to physically "dislike" posters by assigning bounties on their ships/pods/corporations within game.

So no - we actually don't need "dislike" button on forums.

You're right. If there was a dislike button, most people here would have a 1:10 like/dislike ratio. Some people might become jaded and assume everyone hates them and start trolling because they see no point in making an effort to post properly. Others will just ignore the number of dislikes because they know it's meaningless. People are far more likely to click the dislike button on something they don't like than they are to click the like button on something they think is okay or pretty good.
